THanks for the info  thumbup.gif
Mid-February seemed okay? They fixed the problem quite fast o  hmm.gif
*
They already knew the problem, and the fix was pretty straightforward...which is why it was fast.

Mid-February would be Intel's shipping to the manufacturers. Testing and quality assurance were not counted. So the best bet would be the actual chipsets arriving to users March - April.

Hmmm I wonder when the OEM in Malaysia will start to recall the laptops cause we might be using the affected laptop and it will start to the degrade the performance of our HDD and Dvd drive. Plus...will they replace the HDD and Dvd Drive???
*
It doesn't matter about the OEM because it will fail sooner or later.

I personally think that the OEMs should already try to resolve the situation either by recalling laptops, or finding a workaround.

QUOTE(GooD_DaY @ Feb 9 2011, 08:40 PM)
Mostly won't since it's the motherboard which is having problem unless your HDD or optical drive is affected in this short period.
*
Well, that's what the OEM thinks yes. But if they still continue to think that way, the laptops they did not recall will eventually fail and cause more problems in the future. The flaw has already started when the laptop is used; HDD and optical drives are gradually defacing themselves. This will face consumers with a much more serious problem later. Complains will come, OEMs get frustrated blah blah blah, things like that.

from business point of view... why bother when it's not critical at all?

data integrity is not compromised and thus, dun fix anything ain't broken, yet...

when was the last time that we had a recall? battery that explodes...

they may ve already done sth with business laptops... but consumers? blah...
*
Double-edge sword there.

Business point of view quite right in fact. No agreeable answer though. They gain money if they come out of warranty when fixed...but consumers will doubt that brand later on when they ask themselves:

"How come my laptop broken one? Everything so mafan...I don't like this brand anymore..."

A number of us know that SB processors are recalled...but a large number of users do not know that; the less technologically informed are most likely to revolt or complain towards the failed SB laptop brand that they bought, thinking that the brand itself is stupid. So, that company loses its customers.

But if that company is good at covering up, then they might be able to gain money AND save customers.

95C is horrible! You probably need a cooler or something! Also, where do you place your laptop? The surface material sometimes matters...you can't really play on the bed because the hot air gets back in the laptop.

not everyone is using a Sager...

95C during full load is pretty normal for us...

mine would e been at this range too if i haven't replace the stock thermal compound with OCZ Freeze...
*
I had a HP before my Sager though, and that didn't go 95C; it was more about 80 - 85 but idle was 50-60C which was still pretty high. This was with a cheap RM5 laptop cooler, without any thermal pasting done and it pretty much lasted about 2-3 years. That HP died of a burned GPU though.

It doesn't matter if its a Sager or not, 95C is something users should be concerned about...at least Trance4eva is going to do something to resolve it. hmm.gif

ooo but i personally prefer dedicated 1..  i know can save a lot consume power from it but i mostly in indoor~ i dun have budget for desktop so i pick laptop.. i traveling often but i prefer using plug so saving power really not my priority.. so every laptop got 2 GPU? i thought mine inspiron 15R dun have it.. how can i disable the integrated GPU if i had it? i really don't think my laptop got leh.. seriously!

Added on February 11, 2011, 2:33 pmwith around the price of laptop.. i can't get the desktop i want.. hope u can understand brows.gif
*
I don't think you understand some concepts. The 2 GPU solution only applicable to the laptops that have the SandyBridge processors. Your Inspiron 15R is a Core i5 series; it is not SandyBridge at all. It does NOT have 2 GPUs.

SB processors are noted with numbers like e.g. i7 2630QM , i7 2720QM, i7 2820QM and i7 2920QXM

I don't know if it works let alone what will it bring but...I can suggest this:

Disabling your Integrated HD from device manager.

Oh, Uhm it's Sager/Clevo brand (on my sig), but then again I'm receiving it overseas...so the timings are different for Malaysia I think.

Email extract:

We have just recieved notification from Clevo that the P150 and P151 Models Motherboards are being updated there is a new chipset currently in testing that will be produced in early March.
We have been assured that our order is at the front of the production queue and expect to have the Laptops in our warehouse on the 21st March 2011.

*
My laptop is in my sig, haha.

What happened? Well, I ordered then they told me that the lack of video memory gave abit of delay. Then Intel had the recalls, then it was delayed further. So, finally got a confirmation that my laptop will be around Mid March.

Your Sager/Clevo Horize P150HMB + Custom Mod [March] specs are sooo good, how much is the price?
*
RM 5.8K blush.gif

My wallet had a brief moment of sadness when I took money out to pay for this. Some of the components I bought/had seperately e.g. SSD + HDD, cooler (and the custom fans), spare 4GB RAM lying around, heatsinks, soundcard, some LED wires that I'm going to mod with the laptop.

With great power, comes great responsibility haha. Probably do a review once I receive it.

Hmmm...maybe a couple of factors of why it was cheaper.

No OS (have my own), No HDD (my own), 8GB RAM (have extra 4GB spare), buying overseas (comes to AUD$1928 or RM5.8K)

Try configuring that.

Super powerful laptop ar  notworthy.gif
Its one of notebookcheck's top pick for a gaming machine: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Schenk...HM.46526.0.html

I'm impressed  thumbup.gif
And its not as expensive as I initially thought
*
Sager's aren't expensive for its performance, but it lacks marketing here in Malaysia and warranty is quite an issue due to the limited amount of dealers (closest is Singapore).
