The 'highly anticipated' trading figures that has generated some hype last year. Though it's definitely not worth your money, given how expensive it is (600yen, or was it 700?), and how the paintjob is made of lose and suck.

yeah perhaps. The one thing right now that I really want but can't seem to get from the catcher machines is the Ichigo Marshmallow DX figure collection (Miu + Ana). That one is made of win + gold I suppose, but the packaging form factor makes it hard to snag successfully sad.gif
Anyone wanna make a guess which the more popular figure? wink.gif

I wonder how do those UFO catcher machines work over there... are they scam machines like the ones we have here for plushies? I'm sick of those scam machines whose claws would move very quickly and shake all over the place, causing the caught prize to drop anyway.

it's definitely a scam...most of the time.
I agree they deliberately make the movements too fast and jerky. There are many ways of making it difficult for you: for the crane type, they can make the motors too fast, arms too loose, or place the goods in difficult to grab position. For the stick-in-and-pull-down pincers, they make the string too long or pincer movement too fast and jerky.
For the crane type, I usually go for the figure boxes with little ears. For the pincers, I go for the good with relatively shorter string.

The variety of stuff they have for prizes is amazing; from jumbo packs of tidbits (as big as a pillow) to anime figurines to ipods to sex toys.... sweat.gif

You're now DOOMED to take some pictars of such UFO catcher machines.

Anyway, here, some pictars of the 680yen Mahou Sensei Negima figurine thing. It's really not worth the 680yen they're charging >_>

edit:

this will be my last major update from Japan. I will be returning to Malaysia this Saturday cry.gif

Ana and Miu...YESS!!!! I wandered the *ehem* backstreets of Akihabara and found an obscure little shop selling them.

I picked these up 2nd hand. A steal, since they were sold at 50% discount, and were no longer available on the catchers

comment: Only in Japan could I build up a figurine collection up from out of nowhere overnight. I'm glad for the experience, but hope not to do it too soon again, 'cause it burnt quite a big hole in my wallet sweat.gif

Have anyone here bought the Ex-model arcangel, eternal & minerva before? Do it require a lot of painting like the 144 series or less painting like 100 series.
