Ah. The speedmod kernel is much faster than the voodoo I used, everything loads up in an instant! The voodoo was also quick, but this is blazing fast.

I believe battery life, signal etc, through different ROMs would subject to a case of trial and error. If you think the current rom has a bad battery life, try out another, it's just a matter of flashing in a few minutes

I'm using the Speemod kernel in my phone, with the touchwiz UI, nothing else tampered with. It's fast, blazing fast and probably nothing else you'd wanna do with it. Flashing the kernel won't delete your data + etc, but it's recommended to do so. But so far I've flashed two different kernels and both do not delete my data.
I'm on stock froyo + k12R speedmod kernel. Works fast.! |

Find yourself the latest one, and also the one according to your android version. I'm using k12R 500hz, flashed using odin3.

Guys, unless it's a xenon flash( and some xenon flashes on phones arent that good, more of a battery drainer) , it's not much of a use la. Youre pics will look much saturated, or blue in colour, and the camera is good enough in adequate lighting la. If dark lighting even using a DSLR would be tough. Even if flash is available in the galaxy S it would be up to a very very limited distance, which renders the flash useless(which applies to most camera phones).
And don't cry over spilled milk (in terms of UI smoothness) Just install a kernel and everything works fine, you ARE buying an android, not an iOS (imo which is an app launcher, nothing else.) This post has been edited by headhunter7: Feb 13 2011, 08:45 PM |

Well I'm just stating that you don't have to sulk over things that happened ie: you've bought the phone. The need to call Samsung stupid isn't necessary,as they're the ones who brought you the Galaxy S, the SuperAMOLED.
You should've known that flash isn't available and if it is much of a deal then don't get it For the iOS comment, I apologize to those who are disheartened, but to clarify; your homescreen is your menu, hence the app launcher. In Android you'd have a customizable homescreen, push apps here there anywhere, and an extensive operating system. In comparison the apple leaves you with scrolling of the menus, hence the smoothness. There isn't much else for the processing unit to compute, til late which apple comes up with the multitasking. I am entering the second month of using my Galaxy S, and to what I've known , it met and shoots well above of my expectations in which I came from a windows mobile platform, in which at first I thought was the complete phone ( I had a Samsung Omnia i900). I have yet to root the phone, nor install a custom ROM, the usability of Touchwiz 3.0 caters to my needs. Heh strayed off here, I'll just end this here. Hai guise. I was wondering, with the accelorometer, we should have the turn to mute function right? But I can't seem to find it anywhere. Any tips? It's not even in manual. >__>

sunnyboy - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=813309 Here you go for tweaks if you're on speedmod, which I think you are
I'm having 1day and 10 hrs of battery life, calls about 20 mins, mostly sms for both days, wifi off and on, and mostly on edge, will turn on hsdpa for youtube only(about 30 mins on wifi, x amount of online data lol no idea). I've turned off my phone, can't get the screenshot anymore This post has been edited by headhunter7: Feb 24 2011, 09:52 PM |

QUOTE(FormalCat @ Feb 25 2011, 12:32 PM) Hi noob question. Yes it will(in my experience, currently using stock froyo asian jpe2.2, with the speedmod enabled) and heck, even the battery life is upgraded, can get about one and a half days of usage, with calls+sms, checking net, angry birds, etc.I'm still happy with the stock rom but i notice it's getting a little laggy. Will a speedmod cure this? I dont even know what a speedmod is lol http://touristinparadise.blogspot.com/2010...to-install.html Follow these steps and you'll be on your way to a fast SGS |

Even though it's a little new of a revamp, I won't be touching SPB shell, if you were using a winmo installed spb shell, it somehow limits the phone and when you get down deep into the screen it'll show back the original theme. I think a whole new ROM whole be better, cleaner interface, yadayada. But guys, do remember flashing too much ain't good either. I believe it's something like a format of a pc, you wouldn't overdo it, risk of ruining the harddisk. Another would be flashing too many times.. why aren't you using your phone
Hehe my .230423 cents |
