QUOTE(alvinz @ Feb 4 2011, 10:56 AM) reporting back from gps hardware fix .. it was super easy, but shit happens and sadly i broke the antenna ... damn emo now ... How about the external gps receiver which u can pair to sgs wirelessly to solve sgs gps problem? Not sure whether it can work now tht u hv broken it. Not sure it works by bluetooth or wht. Happen to see once in xda I think. Anyone familiar wth tht device?it was seriously so easy, till it made me curious and i tried to pry the down part of it end up whole thing came off ... opening the cover was relatively easy, search for rectangular holes on the side and put in a small flat screw driver then slowly pry it open, each sides consist of 2+ holes .. do it under a table light, the easiest hole to spot is beside the volume rocket, it is hidden below the chrome part .. i am now hoping if anyone here familiar with electronics, is there any conductive glue so that i can just glue it back or the only way is by soldering? now living without gps, lucky still got data plan for google map ... |

QUOTE(alvinz @ Feb 4 2011, 11:42 AM) @KH Cheah, currently searching for some solutions ... no $$ to get external gps receiver On the positive side, u r now our resident expert on gps hardware fix. ;-)luckily in my case, the whole piece of chrome antenna came off from the board ... its not broken into 2 piece so i think still can save, hopefully ... and i am not gonna solder it, havent touch solder since ages ago back in secondary ... gonna try out using super glue, if cant then i will have to send it all the way back m'sia ... OMG! btw, i quoted a link about the battery info back in previous page Added on February 4, 2011, 12:04 pm QUOTE(KH Cheah @ Feb 4 2011, 12:01 PM) Just curious, if its not broken into pieces, how did it come off? Was it soldered 2gethet originally? This post has been edited by KH Cheah: Feb 4 2011, 12:04 PM |

QUOTE(gaarared @ Feb 9 2011, 11:38 AM) Hi all, V9.0 is definitely smoother n snappier than v8.0. But for me, I don't c much difference between v9.0 and v9.2 in terms of smoothness.I'm still on Darky V8.0, quite satisfied with it, just wanna ask, are there many difference from Darky v8.0 to Darky v9.2? tq Added on February 9, 2011, 2:30 pm QUOTE(xmascat @ Feb 9 2011, 01:28 PM) hi all~~~ thinking of trying speedmod on my phone. Many moons ago I hd the same question whn I wanted to try speedmod. Let me tell u, once u tried speedmod, u don't ever want to go bck to original. before that, can anyone advice on how to remove/uninstall speedmod, or how to get back to the original kernel? my experience with odin so far is only to fix the 3 button combo thanks~ Can be done by using 7zip to extract the zImage n replace it. Some sifus here can guide u if u need to do it. But like I said, there is really no reason to go bck to original. This post has been edited by KH Cheah: Feb 9 2011, 02:30 PM |

QUOTE(xmascat @ Feb 9 2011, 02:50 PM) I understand. Had the same concern too many moons ago. Now, not only on speedmod but customised rom, too. Worse case whn u want to claim warranty, u can flash back to stock rom n ur original kernel will be back too. |

QUOTE(holypredator @ Feb 10 2011, 11:41 AM) cuz i dun know how to do it... Papago is very accurate on my sgs. Maybe u shld invest in an external bluetooth gps receiver. It it said to give faster lock n better accuracy. too bad now another problem is Papago instead of GPS.... Since GPS showing good accuracy but PAPAGO accuracy sucks.. By the way... ive tested iGO few months back.... the navigation seems good and very accurate.... but problem is theres no map update for it (malaysia map) .... SO i was wondering if anyone using iGO here able to find the latest map.... or any GPS software that you guys use that is accurate and have new updates for maps |

QUOTE(holypredator @ Feb 11 2011, 12:28 PM) Again the optimist ..... Accuracy for me is betwn 5 to 10m. Tracks me right to the dot all the time. Never go off the road or off track. Only time tht happnd was whn I installed faster fix to get a faster lockin. It was totally screwd up then. It was laggy n not accurate. I removed it n it's back to normal now-though it takes 2-4mins to lock in from cold start. unless 15-30m Accuracy is VERY ACCURATE to you ... then i got nothing to say adi.... I found out that its not the SGS problem... its actualy the PAPAGO itself .... My GPS status test 5-10m accuracy... while when i tab out to papago.. it shows 15m ... and it will Never go below 15m ... Google maps would constantly show 10m when i test drive it around the same area (Feels very accurate... and near perfect) But papago ... at the same area .... it will always be 15m or more... (always fluctuate between 15m-30m) ..... so sometimes it might capture my position offroad or the other side of the road... iGO seems to be a good and accurate GPS.... but problem is the map is not updated for malaysia.... So .. just wanna know sgs users here what GPS software they use...... Ive seen someone mention a few diff GPS software on the past version threads ..... but cant find which thread it is and definately no idea what query to search for.. |

SGS2 will use 1.2Ghz dual core snapdragon n not Samsung's dual core orion chipset. It has 8megapixel rear camera n 2megapixel front. Video recording 1080p n 30fps.

QUOTE(haxri @ Feb 16 2011, 03:52 PM) well, currently i'm using n900 as my phone.. i bought this phone last year with a sole promised to myself.. no more new phones.. but yeah.. after the shyt nokia has fallen into, and the maemo project masuk longkang, i guess, i just might jump ship.. Motorola atrix is selling for usd1200 in US. U can imagine how much samsung can price up sgs2. a month ago i have been eyeing on SGS, but on the day im at maxis to buy the phone, the people there told me to wait a few months for the new SGS2.. so yeah.. i'm waiting.. as waiting is what i can do.. but, will only buy if it is under maxis contract.. |

QUOTE(kmrdeva @ Feb 16 2011, 05:24 PM) I am finding moboplayer to be a better video player than rockplayer.. Just tried. Not sure why it's not able to play .divx format.http://moboplayer.com/moboplayer_en.html Added on February 16, 2011, 11:33 pm QUOTE(kmrdeva @ Feb 16 2011, 06:42 PM) Waah, call me macha some more.. 3000mA will need a new battery cover I think. Will make phone very fat. A buddy of mine found moboplayer and recommended it to me, seems that the lead developer from the rockplayer team left the team and developed moboplayer on his/her own. I noticed RMVB playback to be smoother with moboplayer than rockplayer. I bought my batt from aliexpress.com - it was a 1800mAh batt for the SGS, free shipping, cost me USD9.99 and arrived in 14 days. My colleague has just ordered her 3000mAh batt for her SGS from batterybay.net, I think, for USD19.79 with free shipping also. This post has been edited by KH Cheah: Feb 16 2011, 11:33 PM |
