QUOTE(silentser @ Feb 15 2011, 03:19 AM) I did stop it. Maybe I didn't give it enough time to save before pressing home button to switch between tasks. Sien... Android's memory management still pretty sucky. Added on February 15, 2011, 3:24 amWas driving home earlier. Having problem locking GPS inside Maps. Got a bit fed-up, went to *#*#<bla bla>#*#* and did a GPS locking test. Got lock in <30 seconds, then switch back to Maps, voila! Shhh, don't tell the authorities I was using the phone while driving on the highway. This post has been edited by Harddisk: Feb 15 2011, 03:24 AM |

Got a quick one to ask, does the latest Speedmod kernel includes Voodoo's sound fix?
If not, can I flash Speedmod, enable tweaks and lagfix to ext4, then flash with Supercurio's Voodoo kernel? Will the tweak settings be retained and I can get my sound fix? Was recording lion dance in my office today, well, the result you all would have expected. The sound was badly broken due to the over gain by the default settings of the phone. |

A friend of my brother just joined the SGS bandwagon after comparing ip4 (brother) and SGS (mine), despite all the shortfalls of SGS on lags, possible issues on GPS and the extra efforts required over just jailbreaking on ip4.
He was satisfied with the smoothness on my phone, which was Speedmod-ed and the ability to get GPS lock despite inside the house. Probably it further boost his confidence that I'd help him flash/tweak his phone if he decided to go with SGS. Just thought of sharing with you guys. Just helped a friend flash Speedmod to his new phone.
Guess what I discovered? GPS locked in 25 seconds and the phone was just newly flashed (to Froyo). And SIM card was not present, meaning that it's not using A-GPS and I tried that inside my room. Dang! Even mine with A-GPS takes longer than that. This post has been edited by Harddisk: Feb 19 2011, 02:49 AM |

QUOTE(silentser @ Feb 19 2011, 10:37 AM) okay i can confirm now that GPS Aids help in getting GPS locking faster(really fast infact), but i still not confirm if it will still be the same if i was at another location, When I tested the GPS on the SGS earlier, I don't have GPS aids enabled, cause I haven't got time to fiddle with the settings yet.Added on February 19, 2011, 10:48 am http://hotfile.com/dl/105928901/febb795/ZSJPE.tar.html zsjpe modem, hot from samfirmware from zsjpe firmware I thought it's more for power saving? |

QUOTE(coD33 @ Feb 19 2011, 11:27 AM) A-gps is power saving coz its not using gps to get sat-lock. It uses data from telco network instead. The biggest power draw from any phone would be gps. Enabling a-gps not only make it faster to lock, but also make it more battery friendly. Tried again on 2nd time, it locked in 29 sec.Btw, have u tested your friend gps again just to double confirm it can lock within 25sec? Without A-GPS as well, cause sim card hasn't been put in yet. And again, sensor aiding was not enabled. |

Just flashed my K13B 500 to K13C 250. I felt that the 500 is not as smooth as 250. I can feel that I'm haunted with lags, from time to time. Not continuous lags, but sudden lag, such as the phone not as responsive after I clicked something, or the scroll would jerks a bit. And I think there was serious battery drain as well as the usual 3G standby when I'm outdoor doesn't drain as fast as I could remember when I was on 250Hz kernel.

QUOTE(RoMa_84 @ Feb 21 2011, 01:56 AM) U were comparing K13B 500 and K13C 250? Have u tried the K13C 500 yet? 500 is supposed to be exactly the same except faster and more battery drain am i right? I had K13B 250 earlier.Everything was smooth, definitely smoother than 500's. Dunno why itchy butt wanna try 500, cause read the description that it was something about 1mhz divided by 500hz = 2, while 250's got a 4. Hence 500's should gives shorter response time. Manatau it's flawed. |

No prob bro. Hope you enjoy the new 250's.
3+ already, still not feeling sleepy. Die lo, later at work sure zombified. Still reading this thread, at page 82 now. Added on February 21, 2011, 3:35 amBTW, anyone found solutions to retaining contacts linkage settings? QUOTE(mengsuan @ Feb 21 2011, 07:58 AM) Press download LTO data. Done. The contact linking takes quite a bit of time and tedious even though I've only done it twice. Once bitten, twice shy ma... Added on February 21, 2011, 8:01 am No true solutions for SNS contacts backup. You can sync facebook photos to Gmail from the computer, but I still don't think it's a replacement for SNS. You'll get used to link contacts manually after a while. I'm not sure for Yahoo Mail, but if you have Hotmail, you can get push mail over stock Email app. You can do similar things to Yahoo Mail, provided that they have IMAP/exchange server. http://mengsuan.blogspot.com/2011/02/andro...-push-mail.html Read your article on the Exchange push mail earlier. Good discovery made on your side, unfortunately, I've removed that Email app from my phone thinking that it doesn't have Push notification and I do not have access to Exchange. lol Maybe I'll put it back, but if that's the case, meaning I'll be running 3 email apps at 1 go. Gmail - 2 accounts Email - Hotmail via Exchange push Samsung Hub - Yahoo Mail push If only Email can manage Yahoo Mail push, then I can ditch Samsung Hub. |

QUOTE(fuadsyazwan @ Feb 27 2011, 12:51 AM) my battery only last for a day although just 20sms, 10minutes call, 10 minutes wifi, 10 minutes music. why aa.... T_T Your phone would have lasted even longer if you have more calls, because when you are in conversation, data is disabled, hence saving battery GREATLY! |

QUOTE(fuadsyazwan @ Feb 28 2011, 08:22 AM) no... I think we are quite similar on the battery life. I'm only using Edge now when I'm outside. If whole day on outside with usage, battery will dry around 7pm (unplug at 8:30am).already turn off live wallpaper, background data, location, etc.. so sad la.... is this because i didn't charge it for 8 hrs? that's just old wives' tale, right? Sync: Google contacts, calendar (2x), mail (2x), reader. Whatsapp. Samsung Push Mail YM, Hotmail. Lotus Notes Traveller. Google Location/Latitude. FB SNS at 12hrs interval. Tweetdeck every hour for FB, Twitter account. I guess that's about it on my background sync. Yeah, battery life a shit. Added on February 28, 2011, 9:42 amHardcore has stopped updating Speedmod, or there are no more improvement can be made? This post has been edited by Harddisk: Feb 28 2011, 09:42 AM |

QUOTE(fuadsyazwan @ Feb 28 2011, 12:41 PM) "The other element of interest under the Galaxy S back panel is the 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery. It has enough power to get the smartphone through more than three days of some rather heavy usage. You can find more info about its performance in the dedicated battery test that we conducted in our blog." Which blog was that? Claiming the impossible?they why can't my battery do the same T_T |
