First of all, I would like to thank TS for answering my questions so patiently. But I still have some doubts.

1. How can I improve my SGS speed without lossing the original UI from Samsung???

2. I heard Titanium Backup only work for ROOTED SGS. As My SGS is still with original Samsung ROM and not rooted yet. Can it really function in my SGS?

3. Does it mean if I just do Kerneling on my SGS, the apps and data in my phone won't be deleted and I don't need a backup? Does kernelling improve the speed of my apps and scrolling??

4. Do I need to backup the original ROM/ Firmware before flashing to my new custom ROM? (It Clears the doubt of Question 5 as well)

How you can help again. Many many thanks.
*
1. there are custom roms without theme. meaning that you get all the best experience from the custom rom with the original look.

2. no, you need to be rooted, most backup application need root. rooting is easy for our phone, google: z4root xda, it is and application, install it, press the root button, walah your done, you have a rooted phone. now you need to install busybox, https://market.android.com/details?id=stericson.busybox (man i starting to love this web market).

3. yes, kernel does improve performance of the phone. from my experience, no, it does not wipe your app

4. nope. you can always download the firmware again at samfirmware. look at the asia region (green colour) all the firmware starting with DX__ is our region firmware

reporting back from gps hardware fix .. it was super easy, but shit happens and sadly i broke the antenna ... damn emo now ...

it was seriously so easy, till it made me curious and i tried to pry the down part of it end up whole thing came off ... opening the cover was relatively easy, search for rectangular holes on the side and put in a small flat screw driver then slowly pry it open, each sides consist of 2+ holes .. do it under a table light, the easiest hole to spot is beside the volume rocket, it is hidden below the chrome part ..

i am now hoping if anyone here familiar with electronics, is there any conductive glue so that i can just glue it back or the only way is by soldering?  now living without gps, lucky still got data plan for google map ... cry.gif
*
sorry to hear that notworthy.gif that why people always mention dont go happy bending........

the only solution i heard was soldering, if you still under warranty, put it back all together and just say your gps suddenly stop working.

otterbox more to serious protection, it is thick to protect, SGP more to style, not so much protection except maybe for scratches la, otterbox for drop and more brutal

Do you mean that I don't have to backup my apps when flashed to Darky ROM?

But It drains battery superbly fast. How many hours can last?
*
always backup everything before flashing anything, you just dont know what gonna happen

The file I downloaded from the link is not working, can't install at all. TS can remove it already.
*
ya right rolleyes.gif remove the link to the OFFICIAL web of the application

i download and install countless time, even just now to check again, nothing wrong with it... wink.gif

1.stop using any bloody download manager
2.recheck your downloaded file size with the size on the site
3.clear all your cache/cookies and download again using the browser.

@ CrossX, silentser or those who did the hardware gps fix ... how long does it take to lock for the first time after the fix? did u use a cover or just bare phone? lastly, which app u used to test? gps test or status? thanks in advance smile.gif

i think i am now quite pro at striping my phone naked .. LOL ... everything works fine other than current gps situation ...
*
very very 1st locking after i did the hardware fix, like 3 minit or so, then it start to go 1 minute and a half for cold start, hot start, almost instant

i test it with bare and also case (capdase soft jacket silicon). i use gps test, gps status, and another gps test made by one of the google team member https://market.android.com/details?id=com.android.gpstest

Hi all,

I just purchased a Galaxy S 1 week ago. I noticed that whenever I made a phone call and the in-call volume is more than 50%, I will hear distortion (voice + weird sound, sounds like the speaker is broken) from the in-call speaker. Is that considered normal? Seriously need your advice here, thanks in advance.
*
never notice this before... always use full in-call volume

speedmod is a kernel. if you go into the recovery mode, you can apply lagfix and tweaks there under 'advanced speedmod ULFK'
