You can use the original ROM with a custom kernal, such as the speedmod kernal (use google). It will solve the lag issue.

already did! was using latest version + 12U and i had that issue... will do more tests later today.

ok something weird happened. i left my SGS on the table and it suddenly rebooted itself (like the phone just booted up) but it didn't ask me for SIM PIN.

everything rebooted, scanning media etc.

w00t! i killed my SGS..well.. sorta.. ODIN can fix it.
so.. i was using the phone, and it lagged till kingdom come..so i turned it off and on again..and the thing showed glowing s for damn long..

pissed off i ripped the battery out, stick it back in and on it again.. and once it gets in its like a fresh phone.. going through tutorial.. and my launcherpro kept FC'ing. so couldn't get in the phone (LOL). can't do squat except accept incoming calls.

shit like this won't happen if you're using an iphone, cause you can't rip the battery out.. lol.

actually, with the iphone 4 it is relatively easy with a screwdriver and patience.
i replaced batteries and screens on ipods before.

to add insult to injury.. no ODIN or KIES on Mac OS X.. ish.. troublesome i gotta boot my 10 year old dino PC to use ODIN.

but honestly, i would prefer a DHD over a SGS, bigger screen (no S-AMOLED, but the HTC screen is acceptable), flash for camera (very important feature for me), HTC Sense (makes is usable out of the box), and no lagging issues.

this is my honest opinion as a SGS user, and not as a fanboy. but if you asked me am i happy with my SGS, i can answer you yes. i love the community here, they are very very helpful, when i post questions somebody will definitely try to help me, and that user experience is something i enjoy, and its part of the SGS community.

lol, sometimes, first batch is better e.g. HTC Desire 1st batch all AMOLED, subsequent phones are S-LCD.. so its hard to say. i think the Koreans should be less arrogant, and hire HTC engineers or hardcore to help them in the software department. and for the love of god i cannot understand why no LED flash on the SGS.. yet you get it on the EPIC & Fascinate. I'm really fascinated by Samsung's stupidity.
