Do u guys remember getting this vaccination shot against TB when we were in primary school standard 6? I know that many of your wound hav turned into a scar, some big some small and some are keloids. According to Wikipedia it says that 'BCG immunization causes pain and scarring at the site of injection. The main adverse effects are keloids—large, raised scars'. Sometimes I wish that I was smart enough to escape the jab if i knew my body is prone to getting keloids.How many of you are unlucky like me, still finding a way to cure this?

For those of you who do not know, keloids are raised pinkish scar tissues at the site of an injury; results from excessive tissue repair. It grows overtime, from what i know nth can stop it from growing other than frequent jabs, have you guys have any ideas on this? ive tried, laser, jabs, silicone tape and now im applyin some cream i bought online.

Do share if u or yr frens have found a solution to this Thanks!

i even have keloid scar caused by serious acne problem last time, on my FACE, near my neck there XD

It's getting bigger!it's now 3.5cm in length n 1.5cm in width!this is a recent pic i have..its kinda scary tho!

Added on January 28, 2011, 8:18 pmI heard bout that too..that keloid forms from acne scars as well, even chicken pox! the tapes u can get from pharmacy..try askin them i think its bout 100 bucks!but its troublesome cos u hav to wear it everyday!where as the jab is good but u hav to go thru the pain every month..laser doesn help much tho n the cream im applyin now..hmm nt sure if its workin as well

Wow, I never knew bout this! Mine's kecik only. Bout an oval, less then a cm, flat and has one tiny little barely visible hair. Pretty proud of it cos my friends says my scar's cute.

I googled keloids, and oh God!

P/s: Google says taking care of wounds is vital. When I cedera, big or small, I keep cleaning them. Maybe that's why mine's 'cute'.

But I have seen worst.

I remember last time when I was in Form 1, one of my friend told me that she went to see a doctor and the doctor gave her some cream to apply right after the jap. So now her scar is almost invisible.

Mine however, is about 1cmx1.5cm. Not very reddish or protruding out so it doesn't really bothers me. I guess Vitamin E oil helps? I'm not sure. Sorry can't really help here.

read about steroid injection, try searching for places that has TAC injection, my cousin got his done in kl.

i think you have to use pressure garment...it will applied pressure to your scar from growing
(prevention from growing uncontrol)..the keloid will growth until matured maybe 3-5 month or longer.
you can try pati ikan haruan, gamat also can.. good for wound recovery..
or try to put inai at the scar daily (traditional method)
"you cant get back your normal skin" the doctor said to me before..
but dont know if now have new tech or method to solve your problem.
for info, if you get new severe wound/cut, the scar/keloid will growth as thick as your BCG..
make sure dont cut yourself or you will get another

I had a very bad experience with steroid injections for keloids. Would never ever do it again.

Yea. It's a good way to get rid of keloids as it's easy and quick. But if you google about th negative effects of steriod japs for keloids, you can see that quite a number of ppl actually had bad experience. And the worst part is that we were not told about it and there seems to be no cure for this at the moment.

My skin actually sunken in and I now have like a crater on my leg which is really ugly. Doctor say only way is to put on weight so the fat will grow out. I've went to plastic surgeons but they say due to various reasons, they aren't able to do it for me as well. So now I just gotta live with it.

im 23 now n my scar has been growin n it nv stops growin sadly! the jab i think they use steroid n it flattens the scar but it will grow back out in just a months time tops!i went thru hell for the jab!cos my scar is big so d doctor had to jab my scar at least 5 times n it was terrible

about using the silicone tape..i used few last time and it doesnt solve the keloid problems....

the tape is nt cheap..i think bout 100 bucks rite?u hav to follow the instructions n have to clean the tape everyday n dry it as well it did work abit for me but u kno keloids grow.. so it doesn help in a long run..

I have one too, from the BCG. Im currently doing laser treatment so it's so much better.
Can wear sleeveless without feeling embarrass.

how big is yrs? n wat kind of laser treatment isit? where n how much?

i have similar mark too. there are 3 of them. but smaller 1/2 cm.

and not a girl too.

Mine is about the size of a 10cents coin. It's called fractional co2 laser or some ppl call it fraxel. I went for a few treatments, think it's less than RM1000.

WHERE did u get it done?did it help?
