3G vita is for browsing, skype etc. I read somewhere they cannot play online mp using 3G because 3G bandwidth are quite limited. So if i use phone wifi/hotspot, or mifi, yes i can fool vita to connect to wifi, but they basically still use 3G, so will they be able to handle the bandwidth?

Get the Wi-fi version better - don't forget you gotta buy the SD card too especially the 32 gb one

so it's just a limitation set by sony on the vita. who knows, they might enable it in the future with new firmware

I think the purpose of having 3G is can access internet on the go without the presence of wifi. If you connect using HP hotspot or mifi might as well get the wifi only model. As for the bandwidth I think 3G is capable to play MP if the speed is like 1MBPS and have unlimited usage package. Jz my 2cent.

true. Mgsrulz already pointed that out. but the problem is Sony won't allow online gaming using 3G on PS Vita. Even if you get the 3G version, you will need to use Wifi for gaming. 3G is only for browsing, messaging, Skype, etc. they stated "3G won't have enough bandwidth" as the reason. so better get the Wifi version, unless Sony planning to enable 3G gaming on future firmware, no?
