Besides the alternate endings that I heard, is there any difference in PQ and AQ getting the single disc version?
*
The 5-disc edition has FIVE versions of the movie - the "Domestic Cut," the "International Version," the "Director's Cut" the "Workprint" and the "Final Cut".

QUOTE(specuvestor @ Jan 31 2011, 12:40 PM)
Do you guys suggest getting the 5 disc or single disc version for one who never seen the show?

I heard a lot of good for Bladerunner and 5th Element. But when I saw 5th element I thought the story sucks though PQ and special effects were impressive. Is the Bladerunner storyline good?
*
Comparing Blade Runner with The Fifth Element is like comparing chalk with cheese. Both are of a different class, albeit of the sci-fi genre. The Fifth Element is a popcorn, no-brainer, sci-fi action flick. Those movies are a dime a dozen.

Blade Runner is a movie which moves at a very slow pace, picking up only the end. The first time I watched it, I felt that it sorely lacked pace. Not everyone will enjoy it, hence the reason why it's called a 'cult classic'. Call it film noir sci-fi even, if you wish.

Perhaps if you enjoyed the likes of Donnie Darko or Dark City, this might be your cup of tea.

But the ending got me thinking. And for a movie to get a fool like me to start thinking, it has to be a good movie, no? laugh.gif

1 very important thing is, sapphire series are Paramount's catalog releases, all Best Picture Oscar winners. So, only those movies belong to Paramount and ever won the Best Picture in Oscar will release under the Sapphire Series.

Bro, correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Saving Private Ryan lose to Shakespeare In Love for Best Picture hmm.gif

I notice there are the "Unrated" and "Rated" versions of some BD movies, may i know which one would be a better version to purchase ?
Would a Rated PG18 movie be more garang than an Unrated one?
*
PG18? Surely you meant PG13 right? hmm.gif

If so, PG13 is harmless la.

Go for unrated. Latest unrated movie now is ALAKA. You'll go like this -> drool.gif

If I remember correctly, Criterion Collection for The Last Emperor is cut version and not uncut.  That is why I didn't buy it until today.
*
Sorry bro but what do you mean by cut version. You mean censored? hmm.gif

If you meant shorter version, then you're right. According to the review of the Criterion release at blu-ray.com:

"The Last Emperor has been shown to audiences around the world in two different versions – a shorter version (164 min), also referred to as the Theatrical Cut, which is found on this Blu-ray disc, and a longer version (218 min), which was reconstructed for Italian TV."

164 mins not enough for you ah,taiko? laugh.gif
