If you get the recent one, I think no problem and it is far better than old transfer once those error corrected. --------------------------------------- It seems already corrected the issue, now I want the Special Edition! Its d lack of time for de usually expansive story telling tat d episodes entail.. Dont really dislike it per se. To me if its jus to kill time .. prefer an easy listening music bd or sumtin like tat.. I bot de life cos it was cheap.. tinking maybe I ll find d free time to view it.. Unfortunately.. I m still looking.. D |

QUOTE(johnbluraylover @ Mar 10 2011, 11:22 PM) I already got 6 titles, I tried my luck because all not yet available eleswhere, around RM48/disc included freight, Hey..MIMIC - directed by GUILLERMO DEL TORO, good scifi horror, released by NEW LINE same year with DARK CITY, both suffer in box office, PIC is B-, no remastered & very dark movie, SOUND is better in DTS-HD 5.1 FROM DUSK TILL DAWN - directed by Robert Rodriguez, with George Clooney & Q. Tarantino - the pic is very good quality, A-, sound very good too, US Vivendi might release this title soon, so hold your horses LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL - u can find the review in Blu-ray.com, very good quality both in pic & sound, & very good italy movie CHOCALATE - 1080I, but very good PIC quality CONSTANT GARDENER - Pic B+, however no subtitle, very dificult to watch as it is heavy dialoge driven movie THE CELL - I read from the forum u all love "THE FALL", i think u guys should already knew THE CELL, both directed by TARSEM SINGH. a very beautiful psycho thriller with J.Lo, again u can find the review at Blu-ray.com, pic & sound both B/B+, again no subtitle & zero extra feature. I watch the above BD with my Optoma HD86 projector, so the effect is dif watching at HD LCD/LED/Plasma. Just made another order for 6 more titles, all in STEELBOOK & DIGIBOOK packing, will comment when arrive. I hv Constant Gardener n Chocolate[I tink its Le Chocolat.. in reality.. o ya, u are talkin abt d Johnny Depp/Juliette Binoche flick, rite?] both frm Canada too.. all thru royal canadian post.. I tried orderin Life is Beautiful but it was held back n I eventually nvr received it.. Both CG n Chocolat is brilliant.. thou' it might not be every ones cup of tea.. N might I be so bold to recommend this too : ![]() ENGLISH PATIENT Also a Ralph Fiennes/ Juliette Binoche flick - its 1080i too but brilliant vdo.. luvly story too.. QUOTE(johnbluraylover @ Mar 11 2011, 07:03 PM) Hi Dirtrun, Hi..Thanks for the recomendation, u got good taste. Cinema Paradiso is the standard version, i would like to wait for the 3 hours extended cut. I really love the movie score, got the sound track & been enjoying for 10 yrs. Please comment more after u watch it. Have u seen Europe made WWII movie - DOWNFALL, KATYN, NORTH FACE, MAN OF WAR? all europe made WWII movie are very realistic. I also recommnding German Scifi "THE CARGO" & "THE LIVES OF OTHERS", Spanish Thriller "HIERRO", "THE ORPHANAGE". Just revisited 'THE MIST' while waiting for my "WALKING DEAD" arrive. Very good movie & BD. Thanks for d compliment.. others would say ' why waste money on such a ttl - boring one , no action at all..' Unfortunately, I am not much into war movies.. I do hv SPR n Band of Bros but hvnt found d time to watch it yet.. Problem wif watchin a foreign language flick is tat u need one eye on d subttls.. not tat tat is bad or anytin but u hv to be in d rite state of mind for it.. sumtimes u jus wanna movie like Jason Stathams 'transporter' series - u know 'leave ur brain at d door' type But I hv varied moods, so my taste is reasonably wide.. Spanish flicks I like .. Pans Labyrinth shld be d top, I guess.. Mist was such a promising movie.. but I dislike de ending.. so much so, tat I decided I wouldnt upgrd my d9.. hmmnn.. reminds me of Will Smiths 'Legend' too... D |

![]() SOUTH PACIFIC Lovers of old movies should rejoice in tis bd version of a timeless musical.. I tried it out and so far its de best vdo presentation of a vintage era flick I have seen, it surpasses even Sound of Music and An American in Paris , both very good in its own right.. Fox literally outdid themselves in refurbishin tis ttl .. I hv officially put these on top of my old 'remakes' which was last held by Blade Runner.. South Pacific is literally fantastic.. visually, with its scenery of those sunkissed isles and its people.. colors are rich and is so vibrant, it looked 'fake' in sum scenes - fake cos nobody [including sum visitin family members] could beleive a 50's film could look tis great..Story is set in 40s durin de jap's control of this side of the world and how de US navy twarted de Japs domination.. of cos tats only de side story as there is plenty of romance thrown in.. all told in sing song version [ tats whys its called a musical] Check tis out for its vdo.. QUOTE(johnsontys @ Mar 27 2011, 01:34 PM) Guys, 1. Its cheap at de moment so have to strike while de iron is hot.. prices will go up if I dont buy now..Today both my wife and mom ask me two questions which I am unable to answer and probably you can share your experience to answer them Question 1 - Of all your BD collection, you have not even watch half of them and yet you are continuing your purchase, shouldn't you watch all first before making the next batch of purchase? Question 2 - Of those you have watched, how likely are you to re-watch it again and again and they are most likely to be stored in the cabinet to collect dust - so what's the point of buying so many BDs Well, I am lucky to say that affordability is not an issue but I seriously do not know how to answer those questions. Please help! 2. I only keep the titles that I would like to watch again [ and again, if given de opportunity ] and I have varied tastes so my collection is commensurate with such whims.. When to watch?? Well tat would be when I retire and hv oodles of time to make my mind to mush.. Oso tell her tat by tat time, U wont be able to see LOTR [ or watever ttl u like ] on d big screen anymore but we ll [sounds better than 'I'] still be able to do so.. O ya for tis argument to take, you ll need to invest in a tua gong display .. preferably a front proj wif a 9ft screen.. keke D This post has been edited by dirtrun: Mar 27 2011, 02:16 PM |

QUOTE(johnbluraylover @ Mar 29 2011, 11:04 PM) hi bro, good guess. Haha..Actually i did not choose DHL, i choosed the cheapest postage in AMZ Canada, but for some reason AMZ Canada has been very generous to use the 1st priority mail-DHL express. it only took 5 days to reach & only cost me C$3.55/disc. if i were to choose this speed/service in US, i would have to pay at leat U$8/disc. thank u AMZ CANADA. somehow, the CUSTOM officer in DHL just like the "FINAS" cert, so, i have to go again. i been there 2 years ago. Fortunately there was a very nice & gentlmen officer there & he approve all my movie without asking much. What i need is to pay RM2/disc. I hope the officer still there. damn, i need to find my GPS. U veri good oh.. I jus ignore their calls n eventually I ll get a refund frm amz.ca.. Psstt.. but I hv found a way ard tis .. Kekeke D PS..agree tat DHL sux.. here up north.. |

Added on March 31, 2011, 5:25 pm QUOTE(johnbluraylover @ Mar 31 2011, 11:40 AM) andrewsan, Totally agree..this is not an arguement but i think it is really subjective on this topic. I understand some are more into Pic & some are into sound. but if we say a basic average & equal in between, i would argue for 5.1 set-up. my opinion is as follow: BD offer 1080p pic quality, so we need HD 1080P plasma/LCD/LED or projector. The HD ready should not hv quality same with Full HD. BD offer 5.1 surround. so the movie was designed to utilise the 5.1 set-up. The sound has been designed, say the dialoge from center, music from 2 front channel, & the surround effect from the back, like PEARL HARBOR, BANDS OF BROTHERS, etc. It might not be a must, but it would be at least a proper set up to received all the sound data from the BD & present it out. in 1979, when FRANCIS FORD COPPOLA released the APOCALYSE NOW at 5.1 (very few first wave of movie in 5.1 format) he actually wanted to forbidden some cinema to show the movie cause those cinema lacking of the set-up. again, this is my personnel opinion. I was into audio even durin de SD days wif a 5.1 setup n eventually upgrdd to a 7.2.. VDO then was a 34 inch crt but wif much thought went to 720p Proj n now 1080p Lcos Pj.. Natural progression, I guess .. Both together n its like HT nirvana or close to it.. Think of it like .. A good latte but no cake.. sumtin missing, no?? Wif BD tech why short change urself wif jus 2.0 sound.. albeit I agree its sufficient but u dont know wat u r missing.. Seriously.. D This post has been edited by dirtrun: Mar 31 2011, 05:25 PM |
