Looks like Custom ROMs from Modace other developers will be an alternative until we see Samsung rolling out official gingerbread update for SGT.

Anyway, any news on the official release date?

Hi benny,

Just to ask your opinion, if I were to purchase the Papago X5 Software, will it work after upgrading to androind 2.3?

Secondly, I have installed X3 version on my Nexus One previoulsy, but the graphic is not so cool and there is no 3D Landmarks, does yours looks the same? Mind sharing some screenshots?

Aapart from M3Shoppe, any other online store selling it at a lower price?

Hi

Out of curiousity, I have flashed Overcome v1.2.0. After successfully flashing it, i went into recovery and it format the internal SD to EXT4 but IT says that MicroSD is not detected and its not formatted nor backup. My question is do I have to format my 16gb MicroSD to EXT4 after flashing to OC 1.2?

I have not unclocked it to 1.2ghz

My Quadrant test is getting 1660 and I saw that some of the user is achieving 18++. Any tweak to get this figure achieved.?

Some encountered your prblem so it was advised to format the microsd first using the tab b4 flashing the kernel- so i did.Actually they say you are suppose to run guadrant test three times to get the high scores. I dont bother. Maybe you can go into cwm recovrry to wipe cache partition then advance to wipe dalvik cache, then reboot. It will take a while to reboot since it's rebuilding cache. Maybe faster after that??.
*
What I did was
1. Wipe Cache
2. Wipe Dalvik - Shown error unable to find drive E, But completed the wipe successfully
2. Partition SD- 4096MB/Swap=0, does this means that I have formatted my microsd to EXT4?

Am I doing the right thing?

Did the benchmark test again, the result achieved
1st test : 1,716
2nd test : 1,762
3rd test : 1,778

Just curious - why you did Partition SD ??? This is the internal SD card - if you do this it will wi[pe clean your internal SD card. You do this only if your internal SD has problems
Based on what I ahve read, when you installed Overcome 1.2 - it will auto convert to ext4 if detected your file suystem is still RFS ; no need to do any other steps. Since you said you have seen ext4 successfully converted, don't touch the internal sd card

I didnt tourch the internal SD, I formatted the external MicroSD which I bought

in post #744, you said  partition SD ??? wNo need to do this
See my earlier post above on this issue if you have done it

BTW ext microSD should be formatted in FAT32 format

Overcome v1.2 is really smooth form me. Battery life is really commendable as it is really impressive even if WIFI is turned on. One thing that we miss is Honeycomb, if Overcome just could be based on Honeycomb.

Hi there, i have the difference experince with you. While turn on the wifi and USE to surf net, battery drain very rapidly, around 10% for 10 minutes surfing.
How abt while you plug-in to charge the TAB? Do you realise when you plug-in without turm off the screen manually, the TAB won't charge or take very long time to charge?
*
I'm not having this issue. I could charge my phone without turning off the light

As you all can see the screenshot taken above, the wallpaper I'm using is Honeycomb wall which I download from market. Its an animated wallpaper.

My question is as you can see the time widget, can we download it seperately?

Book type casing like mine plenty available ; price ranges from RM 40 to RM 90 for PVC leather lookalike, psuedo leather . These types with prolong use, the cover coating will slowly peel as is not genuine leather. Should go and feel it in your hands to assess the quality of such casings. Some are soft, some are slightly stiff. However it will still offer protection. Look at your budget and decide

I'm using viva book type case which i bought for Rm199ยท we can set it to stand in 2 position which is good when watching videos

Welcome to the SGT Club. I guess you should see the benefit of rooting which is much more than unrooted phone. Anyway, its just my personal opinion.

you dont know when you will be hit. Pirated cracked apps will often bring strange instability issues such as frequent force closures. Worse your personal details and password stored on device could inadvertently being captured by hackers. Example at the end of day you could endup hefty phone bills as described in this article
Android apps generally cheap us99 cent to us$3. If you can afford a rm2k gadget pay for apps and support the developers. Download it from market or reputable sources. Beware of The dangers of open source. Dont be penny wise but pound foolish.

Good advise from Uncle Benny. Just to share with you guys, at first I was exactly like what Uncle Benny said. After thinking it twice, I have bought around 10 licensed applications from Market. I guess we should also support the open source developer as they have a living too. Almost one third of the android applications are priced aroun USD 1 to USD 3 which is approximately RM 10 or slightly more

overcome 1.2 comes with his own kernel which allows overclock to 1.4ghz. No need to install any other unless you wish to try

Added on March 3, 2011, 8:56 am
You just need to flash modaco kernel over it will overwrite. But basing on my experience is not wise to do so as some older kernel files are not fully deleted could cayse some issues

Uncle Benny

Mind sharing the result which you have achieved when SGT is overclocked to 1.4ghz? For eg battery life, stability and etc? And I would appreciate your recommendation in terms of stability, to overclock it to 1.2ghz or 1.4ghz. My main concern is to play some 1080 Videos on SGT

I have downloaded and install Papago X5 on my SGT

I have also performed the raname folders operation to 600 x 1024 and I have downloaded spare parts and follows the instruction given to get all the applications opened in fullscreen. Now spare parts appears in fullscreen

But I'm having problem with Papago which appears like this

user posted image

As you can see the menu and zoom button appears on the inner part of the fullscreen. Does this happens to all SGT users as well?

YES ; the present papago X5 version only looks nice and perfect up to 5" ( at least that's what I can see on my 5" Dell Streak ) without even applying any settings.
If you wish to use this, you have to bear with it. Maybe an improved version meant for tablets will come, no one knows when ? My emails to M3Shoppe and Papago remain until today unanswered ; some more I bought the software - talk about good customer service - real disappointing

Thanks Benny.

Meantime guys, Overcome v1.2.1 is out. I guess those who are on v1.2.0 will only have to get the updater to 1.2.1, correct me if I'm wrong
