There is no definite answer for your 1st question. It all depends on how much you are willing to spend on your kids. The choice of sending your kids to the best kindergarten or cheapo kindergarten is still your choice. Plus....education cost keep going up year by year. The figures we gave you will be way out by the time your child has reach...say university?

There are many people earning RM500 per month, can have 3 kids.

If you have money, you can deliver your baby in private hospital... if not government hospital

If you have money, you can send him to the best private school... if not government school.

My point, don't worry. When you have kids. You will adjust your financial. Giving your kid the best you can...

Yes, take it a step at a time. Thinking of university at this stage would be as good as unpredictable.

I cannot tell so far.. but I can share rough expenses that I've spent for my now 15 month son...

A rough total of spending from time I knew my wife pregnant to baby's 1 week of age:-

Visit to Gleneagle's Gynae inclusive some supplements for the 9 months: RM3000
Mummy's milk powder: RM350
Baby's bottle, sterilizer, clothing, accessories, etc: RM1500
Natural Delivery (with vacuum) at Glenagles: RM5800
Jaundice Phototheraphy treatment at Putra Specialist: RM1600
Stem Cell (Stem Life) - including 20 years rental: RM4000
Confinement lady: RM2800
Confinement month food, etc: RM1000
Kakak Urut (10 times): RM400
Baby's milk powder and diapers: RM200
Rough Total: RM20,650
*We didn't buy baby bed, playpen, stroller, chair, car seat cause someone passed it to us. So saved up on it... I think if have to buy, it will cost easily another RM3k to RM5k.

Then every month (average down amount, sometimes use more sometimes use less):-
RM500 for his milk, diapers, food, new bottles, new clothes, etc.
RM100 for clinic visits, vaccination, sick... (touch wood, hope not every month see doctor)
RM50 for his toys (not every month buy him toys, buy on special occasion like BD, Christmas, etc)
RM500, My mum is taking care of him, on top of the usual allowance I give my mum, I gave extra RM500
Rough Total: RM1,150

Savings for his future? I bought a new property, office lot - RM420k. It is still under construction, hope can get rent when it is ready. So when 17 years later, hope price will appreciate and then sell off for his studies, his wedding, etc etc...

Now my 2nd baby coming... another round of expense coming up... my pocket is getting shallower... cry.gif but it is well worthwhile to have them in our lives... rclxms.gif

Dont worry, there are a lot of things that you can get cheaper/free.

E.g :
- Monthly vaccination / monthly checkup can get from Klinik Kesihatan Ibu & Anak for free.
- Breastfeeding will eliminate the need to spend money on formula (and prolly save money on sick bills too wink.gif)
- Cloth diapering will reduce diapers expenses. Or buy cheaper diapers - my baby wears Tesco Choice diapers and she doesnt have any issues / rash whatsoever.

Gosh quite subjective really. Some parents splurge on their kids, some dont, so its very subjective. Depends on lifestyle and what you awnt for your kids. Some times the little things add up monthly: eg child falls sick, tins of milk, diapers , toys, clothes the list is endless.
