QUOTE(hantu.laut @ Apr 22 2011, 05:56 PM) kopaska doesn't need yr tips, they're proven without expose to media, in one of their ops at malacca st. (2004) kopaskas exchange fire with pirate onboard tankership inside accomodation alley which only 2mtr width and pirate position only 5mtr in opposite direction. 5 of pirates died instantly 1 pirate jump overboard, oh btw no even scratch to kopaskas, although all pirate fired their AK47. And we captured a ship with 8 pirates onboard with zero casualties. Tl;dr, good job to both sides, because if you are going to argue about this, it will take forever.unlike some other SF who has very few real ops, so one success op they're instantly upload it to youtube, hahahaha upload one fresh video for tips to TLDM, Besides, how the f*** did a post regarding a documentary report derails into d***-measuring contest? |

QUOTE(mercury8400 @ Apr 29 2011, 10:33 PM) Actually I disagree with M'sia spending too much money on military hardware. I mean who are we going to war with? Singapore? Indonesia? We know we can't beat SG and we also know SG does not have the man power to occupy m'sia. Indonesia have their own problems and most definately do not have the resources to mobilise most of their military. So who excatly are we trying to scare off? I feel like its another reason for politician to dip their hands into the public pocket again.... Vietnam and People's Republic of China. And some other nations claiming the Spratley. |

Some food for thought.
How soldiers deal with the job of killing When a soldier kills someone at close quarters, how does it affect them? This most challenging and traumatic part of a soldier's job is often wholly overlooked. Soldiers kill. It goes with the job, and they do it on our behalf. But it's an aspect of their work which is widely ignored - even by the soldiers themselves - and this can cause them great psychological difficulty, experts say. "A central part of what we do with our careers is we kill the enemies of our country," said Lt Col Pete Kilner, a serving officer in the US Army who has done tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. "So it's very important that we understand why, and under what conditions it's the morally right thing to do to kill another human being." Lt Col Kilner also lectures at the West Point Military Academy. He calls himself a "soldier ethicist" and has talked with countless fellow soldiers about their experience of "intimate killing" - taking the life of someone up close, who they can see. "They don't like to talk about it. In general, if you're a soldier and you've killed in war, you lie and say no. "It tends to be the secret we have that we're not proud of. We want to fight bravely, but it's hard to be proud of killing another person." Learning to aim is one thing - learning to take aim at a person is quite another Such acts are veiled by jargon, or not spoken about at all, he says. "We recruit people to kill. We train people to kill. We make the orders. Yet after the fact, we don't talk about killing. "We talk about destroying, engaging, dropping, bagging - you don't hear the word killing." This revulsion against committing the ultimate deed prompts the question, how easy is it to do? Soldiers put on what some call their "warrior's mask" - but away from the heat of battle, how do they take it off again? Experiences vary. Andy Wilson, a soldier in the SAS, Britain's elite special forces, joined the army at 18. Now 36, he still clearly remembers the first time he took someone's life in a kill-or-be-killed scenario. "He had an AK47 and he was going to kill me. I was cool, calm and collected the whole time. I knew I had a job to do. I knew I was going to do it, and I did. I was a soldier. That was my job. And that was war." Read More : http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-13687796 |

US not coming to PH aid vs China
The United States yesterday said it will not side with any party in the Spratlys conflict, which is to say that the Philippines’ most powerful ally will not be coming to its aid should its spat with China escalate into a shooting war. The US Embassy made this clear yesterday in reaction to a Malacañang statement earlier yesterday expressing confidence that Washington would honor its commitment under the two countries’ Mutual Defense Treaty to come to the aid of a beleaguered ally. “The US does not take sides in regional territorial disputes,” the US press attaché Rebecca Thompson said in an e-mailed statement when contacted for comment to deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte’s invoking of the 60-year-old MDT. Thompson said the US was “troubled by incidents in the South China Sea in recent days that have raised tensions in the region” and that Washington opposes “the use or threat of force” by any of the countries with rival claims to the Spratly islands. The brief statement said the US “shares a number of national interests with the international community in the South China Sea” but did not mention the Philippines or the two countries’ over-a-hundred-year-old ties and mutual defense pact. In an interview on state-run dzRB radio earlier yesterday, Valte figured the Philippines could count on its superpower ally should the situation with China deteriorate because of the MDT. “I haven’t seen the terms of the MDT quite recently but I know that as an ally, the United States will help if ever it reaches that point because of the Mutual Defense Treaty,” she said. “Hopefully, it doesn’t get to that point because, again, we are committed to the resolution of the issue in the most diplomatic and the most peaceful way possible,” she added. Armed Forces Chief General Eduardo Oban was also earlier quoted as saying that the military remained “hopeful that the Americans will not stand aside should the conflict erupt and that they can invoke the MDT with the US.” The MDT was signed on Aug. 13, 1951, in Washington, D.C. with both parties declaring “publicly and formally their sense of unity and their common determination to defend themselves against external armed attack.” Under the eight articles of the treaty, both parties agree to aid and support each other in settling any international disputes by peaceful means, among others. Sentor Francis Escudero said the Department of Foreign Affairs should be designated as the lead agency to talk about the Spratlys issue in public. Avoid any mistakes He said Malacañang should not do so through its spokespersons “in order to avoid any faux pas on our part.” Escudero said the government should also review the MDT to ascertain if US forces would indeed come to the rescue if the Philippines is attacked because of the Spratlys dispute. He said Palace officials should carefully review the MDT, read through its fine print and get confirmations from the US government “if indeed this situation is covered.” But he remained optimistic that US military support would be given in case of an armed conflict as “a gesture of longstanding friendship.” Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. said the House would leave it to the Department of Foreign Affairs assert the country’s sovereignty claim over the West Philippine Sea. “The DFA is articulating our position and we’re supporting it,” he said. Armed Forces spokesperson Commodore Miguel Rodriguez said the AFP leaves it to the DFA to make an official comment on the developments in the Spratlys issue. Not joining Vietnam “We submit our reports to the DFA and the DFA crafts the country’s position on KIG [Kalayaan Island Group] affairs,” he said, referring to the portion of the Spratlys claimed by the Philippines. He also said the military was not joining Vietnam, another Spratlys claimant, in the deepening rift with China over the issue. “We are not looking at partnering with one country against another country,” he said. At a Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Independence Day dinner last night, President Aquino came face to face with Chinese Ambassador Liu Jiangchao who only a few days ago had warned claimant states to stop exploring for oil in the Spratlys. “Like all neighbors, I know we may have our disagreements sometimes,” Mr. Aquino said in his speech, acknowledging Liu’s presence. “(But) no one can deny the benefits our relationship has brought to both our countries throughout the years,” he added. Liu adverted to “incidents” that have arisen between the two countries since Mr. Aquino came to power. “But facts have manifested we are stronger than these tests,” he said. Liu said the Aug. 23 botched hostage crisis involving Hong Kong tourists had been settled with a “loving and understanding heart.” “The last thing the Chinese government and people want to see is that the [Spratlys] dispute stands in the way of the progress of our wonderful relations and the friendship and brotherhood of our two peoples,” Liu said, who hinted at a visit to China from Mr. Aquino later this year. In the past two weeks, the Philippines has accused China of making at least six incursions into Philippine territory in the past four months, a charge that Beijing has dismissed as rumors. Recently, the Aquino government has made a point of referring to the South China Sea as the West Philippine Sea to bolster its claim to certain parts of the Spratlys. Mexico captures 'major cartel boss'
In a rare bloodless arrest, police detain Jesus Mendez, the alleged head of the cult-like La Familia cartel. ![]() Mexican police have captured the suspected leader of a cult-like drug cartel in the latest blow to a gang that was until recently one of the most notorious in the country. Federal officers detained alleged La Familia (The Family), boss Jose de Jesus Mendez, known by his nickname "El Chango," or "The Monkey", at a highway checkpoint in central Mexico. No shots were fired during Tuesday's arrest, the government and prosecutors said. In a rare bloodless capture in Mexico's escalating war on drug cartels, President Felipe Calderon's national security spokesman said Mendez's arrest was a major victory and the end of La Familia, which was infamous for beheading its enemies. "With this capture, this criminal group is destroyed," Alejandro Poire told reporters, adding that Mendez was being flown to Mexico City for questioning. Mendez's detention follows the death last December of La Familia's top boss, Nazario Moreno, known as "The Craziest One," in a dramatic series of army raids that briefly turned the western state of Michoacan, La Familia's heartland, into a war zone littered with burning cars. 'No end to killings' Despite the government's optimism, La Familia hitmen are still at large and have split into factions since Moreno's death. One new gang, Los Caballeros Templarios (The Knights Templar), is suspected of killing 23 people over the weekend, leaving bodies across Michoacan with threatening notes for rivals. Spreading more terror as gunmen fight over lucrative methamphetamine trafficking routes and marijuana fields across western Mexico, the Zetas cartel are also moving onto La Familia's turf and many residents are fearful of even more violence. "It sure sounds good for the government to say they've got another cartel leader, but there is no end to the killings," said a Michoacan resident interviewed by local radio after the government's announcement. Calderon, who hails from Michoacan, launched his army-led war on drug cartels in late 2006 on taking office, but now faces growing public alarm at the about 40,000 dead in the conflict across the country since then. With a bounty of $2m on his head in Mexico and also wanted in the US, Mendez is believed to have taken over the running of La Familia since Moreno's death, along with another suspected kingpin, Servando "The Prof" Gomez. Gomez is still at large and is thought to be running methamphetamine operations out of Michoacan, according to Mexican and US anti-drug officials. Last year, Mexican media reported he was receiving a salary on the state payroll as a teacher at a local elementary school in Michoacan. Formed in the 1980s, La Familia has vowed to stop sales of the methamphetamine drug "Ice" in Michoacan, saying it is destroying local communities. Instead, it exports all meth production to the US. Unlike other Mexican cartels, La Familia under Moreno was run with a pseudo-religious philosophy, preaching Bible scripture mixed with self-help slogans to prevent gang members from abusing drugs and to justify the grisly murders of rivals.
