D3100 battery grip using IR to fire vertically. It might miss if you block the IR sensor on camera body.
And only third party available./
*
IINM, D3100 got a port for wired remote
3rd party brands will create a battery grip which utilize that port
similar to D5000 3rd party battery grip im using, so can half-press AF n full-press to snap

How the focusing accuracy? Consistent ?

Other who exp this len might to share your exp as well? Thanks you
*
in terms of weight it's heavy, heavier than 18-105
but i dun mind d weight
as for focusing, it depends whether u get a good copy or nt
mind not so accurate
f/2.8 above can get consistent focus result, below that start to oof easily

my D5000 back thumb grip rubber came out doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif
glued back with super glue d sweat.gif

How's the focussing speed of sigma 50mm compared to Nikkor's G?? That day I tested the G and then the D, wow..... the G is soooo slow compared to D!! it is omg slow if comparing side by side..... wonder how's Sigma

Juz wondering if u have a Sigma 50mm, will u still use 35mm 1.8? lol..... I thought of keeping for group photo indoor, lol.... am I crazy
*
G is slower than Sigma, thats for sure

QUOTE(aldosoesilo @ Jan 25 2011, 10:24 AM)
IDK why I love the look of 50mm 1.8 doh.gif
I think even tough later I have 50mm 1.4 sigma or 50mm 1.2 Nikkor (If later they publish) I still want to get that legendary 50mm 1.8 Nikkor.

Sadly no AF motor on my body. doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif
*
d current best Nikkor 50mm is AIS f/1.2 manual focus whistling.gif

QUOTE(jiroHC @ Jan 25 2011, 08:05 PM)

@General Nic ... do u have any issues of front or back focusing with ur sigma 50mm f/1.4 ???
*
Not sure, haven got time to check
maybe its actually due to inconsistent AF, hard for me to get sharp results when using below f/2.8

I know it is possible to test lens at BTS nikon centre. But is it possible to ask them to mount on a D7000 body to test it(as I want to test both the body and lenses)?
*
can, i even c b4 ppl test D3s body laugh.gif

QUOTE(aldosoesilo @ Feb 1 2011, 01:56 AM)
bro I didn't realize you have bought your sigma. so fast walawe.
I thought it suppose to be mid year somewhere?
aw.. sorry to hear that. No worry bro after service you will get your monster  thumbup.gif
and the next thing I know is poison from siggy 50mm

Today I decide to bring my 1855 kitty for a walk in China town somewhere.
it's been a while since I mount it on my body, if I am not mistaken the lens throne is directly replaced by my 35mm 1.8.

as the result 1855 is outstanding still a very good lens.
I will spam later. smile.gif
*
1st time i used my 18-55 after using Sigma so long is complain d AF speed of 18-55 laugh.gif

QUOTE(alvinX @ Feb 1 2011, 09:03 AM)
How the lens focus? O.o
Based on my understanding, the SWM is just a motor. The rest is left for you to explain to me about the relationship between this motor and the "low light".
*
AFAIK, SWM allows more precise AF, thats y it'll AF better in low light

yeah the AF is quite slow but it is a very good lens still. the best you can get with 350 bucks tongue.gif
I'd say. of course we should take a side 50mm 1.8 prime as it serve different purpose. tongue.gif
*
for a rm350 lens, i love d fact it has better distortion control n shorter focusing distance than 18-105 thumbup.gif

QUOTE(eddy230379 @ Feb 1 2011, 03:29 PM)
i used 2 focus charts to test it ... used at the closest focus range & the largest aperture as well ... not forgetting i mounted it on a tripod at 45 degrees angle ... i seriously dont know what went wrong ... hopefully if they cant repair it they will replace a new one for me ... my 16-85 is a good & sharp lens to use ... but bokeh wise ...    sweat.gif
*
ur Sigma is d new version with shiny smooth body surface?

SB900 only overheats for those who don't know how to use flash, it won't overheat under normal usage, i have yet to get overheating after 1 year of using  laugh.gif
*
use non constant aperture tele lenses oso can overheat it
i used 55-200 @ 200mm during stage events, ISO1600, direct flash without diffuser, overheated after snapping a few pics

QUOTE(celciuz @ Feb 6 2011, 06:22 PM)
SB900 recycles slower using alkalines instead of nimh.

1 shopkeeper told me b4 that not suppose to use mAh higher than 2000 batteries as it will reduce d flash bulb lifespan, issit true?
