haih...thats why im sad to say im not really exposed to Sarawak's football affair. Unlike other states where the stadium is not far to drive to, no matter where in the negeri u are from....For Sarawakians from towns like Sibu, Bintulu and Miri..to drive to Kuching from Bintulu for example..its a 12 hour journey yo. JB drive to Penang like that. and no highway summore, its all roads through mountainous area filled with heavy trucks. Merchandising also very poor, had never ever seen FAS jersey being sold, ever in my life. Maybe in Kuching got but i wouldnt know where to find, and the last time i went to Kuching is in 2003 i think..

Well hopefully somehow the team managed to go up to top league and challenge up there, then at least exposure will be bigger. This will begets bigger coverage and easier for fans to follow news.

i have watched sarawak on tv some time in the past 2 years. very impressed with Joseph Kallang Tie. very happy when Ganu swooped for him thumbup.gif

wat? pull out because no imported players?

sadly yes.... what a bunch of sissies...

why would India try so hard to qualify to Asia Cup?

Or North Korea to the world cup, if they afraid to get beat...?

its an honour and good sparring opportunity to play against team better than us even if they have imports and we dont.. this mentality by state if FA is why our football in the doldrums all this while... the choose to wait and wait and wait and wait..until things "get better" before they want to do anything...

stupid...

absolutely. what a waste. to improve yourself, you have to play with the best. i do think it's more to a business decision making (i.e. if not going to win it without imported players why bother spending all the money to enter the competition in the first place) rather than a footballing one

my local team Kedah went into the AFC Cup few seasons back without an imported players and while we didn't progress far in the tournament the players did benefit a lot from the experiences
*
yes.. we complained that we dont have enough competetive games for the national team.... but here we are.. the state FAs rejecting a good competetive club matches in front of their eyes... what a waste..

Ignorance on one part and unavoidable knowledge on another part a formula for peace is not.
Shirley, you don't think I'm complaining about translation, but the the wording itself, right?
After living away from Malaysia so long, nor really.

But from experiences living in the West ("they're not from Malaysia", "do you still live on trees?", ""

Add to that the lack of recognition players like James Wong and Matlan Marjan (scored both goals in our glorious 5-2 defeat to England) receive for their national contribution and how players who move to Sabah in the 90s reduced their chances of national callups, do understand I can be somewhat bitter sometimes supporting Malaysia when some portion of them don't acknowledge us.

Sabahans do tend to swell attendances, mind.

Never underestimate the power of poor-state inferiority complexes. Football has always been been an extension of other social feelings. English fans used to chant "go get a job!" whenever they go up against any of the Liverpool teams. So the Sabahan team in many ways (good or badly) can sometimes be a proxy for Sabahan grievances.

Back on topic, Terengganu, bring it on! We don't have a good record against them and being the newly promoted boys, seems like an early away test is definitely trying. Should park the bus and hope for the best.

Sabah's most interesting signing would have to be Stanley Samuel, a guy who was part of the reality show-assembled MyTeam who then went on to, of all places, India for a season. The bulk of tranfers seem to have been former Sabahan players who had spent a couple of seasons abroad and want to come back right now.
*
yeah.. the match would be starting right now.. pity there are no live on tv... Terengganu as usual will try to be the best-among-the rest as we did season in season out.

i would be interesting to see how Stanley is doing after his stint abroad...

we would fancy our chances against your new keeper though.... eventhough he have the height and the voice, i never rate him as a goalkeeper..

kebanyakan orang cam aku ni generalize yang baling botol = orang yg bakar flare. Tp setelah diberi penerangan kat forum ni, orang2 yg bakar flare (Ultras) x kan buat keje bodoh cm baling botol dgn cabut kerusi.

Added on February 1, 2011, 1:29 pmMalam ni RTM ada live x? kalau ada perlawanan team mana? Sori guys, aku ni jnis menentang stesen tv berbayar cm Astro, so aku x kan subscribe.

quite relief the venue changed to Shah Alam due to distance, traffic, parking and stadium capacity reason...

i am pretty sure i can slothfully arrive at the stadium 30 minutes before kick-off, park 10 meters from the main entrance, walk from the car - purchase tickets - enter stadium in one stride and park my butt at any of the 10 seat per person seat just in time for the FIFA Anthem...

i am not a particular fan of player venture individually outside.. we have numerous cases of players with good early potential going outside, but come back not much different or special compare to local players...

modern football is so much more than individual skills now... for me tactical and team movement phylosophy is much more decisive in term of result...

i'd favour if we send a whole team outside like we did with slovakia..

again with my against the flow view.....

These situations are covered by FIFA statutes
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Christian Gonzalez is eligible to play for Indon by virtue of article 17 (d).

As I interpret it, Brendan Gan's situation is addressed by article 16.
"A Player who, under the terms of art. 15, is eligible to represent more than one Association on account of his nationality, may play in an international match for one of these Associations..."
i.e. all these conditions about biological parents are only applicable if he could theoretically represent more than 1 country. As Malaysian nationality rules not allowing dual nationality, I can't see how he could represent Malaysia unless he gave up Australian citizenship & applied to be a Malaysian citizen. Even then there's no guarantee our Immigration Dept will process his application favourably.
*
i can be a little confused here. But can Brendan played for Malaysia under Article 17 par. (b) ?

Yes. But to be eligible he has to have a new Malaysian nationality. To have a Malaysian nationality requires him to renounce his Australian nationality because Malaysia doesn't accept dual nationalities.
It is possible for other sports but not for football because FIFA has its own rules.
Anyway are there any foreign citizens representing Malaysia in any proper sport besides Rugby?
*
i think the dual nationality issue is covered in article 16. Article 17 is for players who don't have dual nationality but want to assume new football nationality which does not necessarily means actual citizenship....

this basically means any import player who never played for his home country can play for Malaysia (if we accept him) if he stays here for 5 years straight.... under 17(d).... this is basically also means we can call up any player out there who have foreign parentage if by any chance born in Malaysia.... 17 (a)

brendan would be under acticle 17(b)...

gonzalez issue is under 16 (d) where has required dual citizenship and has stayed continuosly in indonesia more than 2 years...

U guys are amazing there. Wish there will be more joining in the future, especially more from different races. Also hopefully no bad apples la, later people have bad impression that this is a hooligan group. All the best UM biggrin.gif
*
As far as i can see now, people who joins UM are a bunch of disciplined lot. It is because they are tired of people doing non-constructive or destructive things in the stands that they coooperate to join Ultras. They want to contribute rather than being passive. So i dont think we would see a lot of bad apples who would ruin that.

About the different races thing is pretty though... even if you sit eating kuaci on the stand you can feel intense Malay-crowd-machismo is in the air. This will increase 10 fold if you stands among the Ultras. Even Malays felt awkyward and intimidated by the show of tight togetherness and bonding between complete strangers in there. I think except for the pioneers, crew and capo, anybody else hardly know anybody.... its not that they are racist... but if you look around in there and the type of environment i would understand it if people from other races felt there are a thick glass wall separating them....

saying that, i know one of the taiko in there is an Indian .. although he hardly looks so... there are also people from mixed parentage...

i think it will be good if each state ultras make it a project to recruit people from other races as well to break the glass wall.... but whats best is if nationalist Chinese or indian football fans raise up and form a branch of their own like state Ultras and on join arm under UM. What a sight it will be if malay, chinese and malay capo can lead the crowd together...
