Yes it is to a certain extent. Getting them to "invite" you won't be as easy. I have friends who have visa infinite and world card from other banks with six figure credit limit and supposedly excellent credit history and they get turned down. Having a fat bank account is a must to those who aspire to have this card if you are not invited and decide to go the "By Expression Of Interest" route LOL.

I received my Plat charge card without "expressing my interest" and I have NEVER paid the RM 2380 annual fee thankfully due to my banking relationship with Maybank. The moment I have to pay, I think I will bid the card Sayonora. Mad amount of money for a piece of plastic!
