Hmmm, looks like American Express/Maybank is planning to officially bring in the American Express Centurion/Black charge card. The adverts are already starting to roll out. Malaysia's market must be sizeable enough if they're thinking of this. The Platinum charge card fees are already high so this must be even higher, or maybe they reduce the Platinum card fees? Wonder who amongst the existing Platinum charge card holders will be invited to apply for the Centurion/Black card blink.gif

hi, wanna ask the amex plat charge card annual fee got waiver or not?

I don't think they ever waive platinum charge card annual fee, in fact might be Amex policy not to waive it. Gold charge card fee can be waived. However,if you spend above a certain amount on the Platinum charge card each year Amex can offer Membership Points redemption for the annual fee at a much reduced points amount.

I think RM 50 charged for main card and all others are RM 25 since they are considered as supplementary cards. The AC for business use is considered supplementary.

Malaysia Amex platinum charge card does not come with free Priority Pass cards, unlike Plat charge cards from other countries Amex sad.gif

They make it a policy to never waive the Platinum card annual fee. However, if you do spend a lot using the card then what they will do is offer you a reduced membership rewards points redemption for the annual fee. By the time you add in the 10x points offer with certain merchants, the turbo points accumulation and so on, you basically end up with more points than what is needed for the annual fee redemption.

They make it a point not to waive annual fee for Platinum charge card. But can redeem using discounted points amount.

Maybe your father should apply for Platinum credit card instead, that one sometimes can waive annual fee. But if he so kedekut, will he spend money to eat at Shangrila? Even at 50% off for second person?

Black AMEX charge card is coming to Malaysia soon?

They tried to launch Amex Centurion "black" card in 2013/2014 but dont think they did it in the end

Maybe the response from their existing Platinum charge card holders that time and potential new cardholders wasn't good enough?

So now they "upgraded" their Platinum charge card instead

If you call Amex customer service (not the Maybankard number), they will tell you Amex policy is not to allow annual fee waiver of Amex Platinum charge card. But they will give you a choice of using your MR points to redeem and for this year they want 300,000 points for redemption.

I suppose its still less than the RM 3,250 annual fee (it was 3445 with gst) as you get 5 MR points with each RM 1 spent, so if you spend more than RM 60,000 a year then the annual fee is "redeemed".
