Hi all, curious about how minimum income will be calculated if you are working overseas and only have overseas income slips with foreign currency?

Planning to apply platinum charge, and if I convert my annual salary from foreign currency to MYR, I will meet the income requirement. Anyone tried it before?

Really weak benefits compared to other countries. Business Class and First Class comes with lounge access so it's not a very useful benefit for this level of consumer.

Also no mention of FHR perks on the Malaysian site. Impossible to recoup RM3250 of value on this card.

Oh wow! now that you mentioned it, the Malaysian Platinum Charge really does lack a lot of features compare to other countries.
Currently I am deciding to apply between New Zealand and Malaysia Platinum card as it is not worth to apply in both countries.

The only real benefit for me to apply in Malaysia is I could have supplementary cards issued for family members to earn points on and to use it while I am in Malaysia or overseas, the points exchange rate are better than the NZ version too.

Malaysia Platinum Charge
MYR1120 = 5600 MR points = 1000 Krisflyer miles

New Zealand Platinum Charge
NZD1000 = 2000 MR points = 1000 Krisflyer miles (NZD1000 is equivalent to MYR2698.35 at the time of writing)

For overseas transactions, the Malaysia version is certainly better in terms of earning points. In theory, its more than 2x better in terms of points earning compare to the NZ version.

Different features between cards
=============================
Malaysia Version:
Priority Pass for Supplementary Card holder only
Golf Club and Green Benefits
SPG Hotels & Resorts Privileges Dinning discounts in Malaysia
Access to Tower Club, Singapore

New Zealand Version:
Priority Pass + 1 guest for Supplementary Card holder
NZD200 Travel Credit each year through Amex Travel
Fine Hotel and Resorts programes and benefits*
The Hotel Collection program and benefits*

Hotel Status: Accor Plus Membership, Hilton Honors Gold, Marriot Bonvoy Gold Elite
Radisson Rewards Gold, Shangri-La Golden Circle Jade Membership.
With Shangri-La Jade Membership able to status match to Krisflyer Status
Platinum Concierge*

*Highlighted in Red are features that maybe included in the Malaysia version, just not advertised.
Could any Malaysian Platinum Charge holders confirm this?

Common:
Priority Pass + 1 guest for Primary card
Points tranfer to other frequent flyer programes
Access to Amex lounges,Centurion lounges
Hertz Gold Plus and Avis for Complimentary Car upgrades
International Airline Programme for preferential fares thru Amex travel
Insurance
Purchase Protection
Amex Invites

If I have missed any features please point it out.

Amex Malaysia has recently improved their redemption to 5000MR = 1000 Krisflyer, and Asia Miles.
Enrich was 5000 MR = 1000 all along.
There's also a RM400 hotel credit. I think this is new. But if the hotel credit is applicable only to selected hotels, then RM400 doesn't go a long way.

Singaporean card gives SGD 800 travel credit ($400 hotel and $400 airline credit)
Singapore Amex $800 Travel Credit
*
Could I see the source for the 5000MR = 1000 Krisflyer? couldnt find anything on the internet about that.

and the CS rep got back to me and confirmed that the Malaysia Amex Platinum card does include Platinum Concierge, The Hotel Collection, Fine Hotels & Resorts and a smaller list of Hotel Loyalty Programme which only include Shangri-La Jade Membership, Hilton Honors Gold and Carlson Gold Elite aka Radisson Rewards.

But it do not include the Accor plus membership which include 1 complimentary night of accommodation.

Just incase anyone wants to know more about the amex plat 👇🏼

I saw your video yesterday, great unboxing video. Thanks! Also have your supplementary card holder use the priority pass yet? how do lounges know which one can bring guests in and which one can't?

I saw someone in another forums manage to bring guests in without any charge on their supplementary priority pass. Not sure how this works.

yup you are right. Not much benefit. I get this card is because I have so many point, which I can’t finish it within years if I use Amex reserved. This is the only benefits that best suit me cause amex plat MR never expire for as long as membership is intact.

I call customer service asking them to arrange me a trip to Europe, to my surprise that totally don’t know how to arrange. So don expect Amex Malaysia has all those dedicated concierge service. They have none.
*
I am starting to experience the difference in quality of service already even before applying.
The CS rep still have not reply to my email inquiry (sent last week) about the next steps if I don't have a Borang BE, I have all other forms prepared and ready to submit anytime. Send a follow up email and still no reply. Let's see how long it will take for them to reply to a simple question. sweat.gif

And I would rely on the concierge service to arrange things a lot when I am not in Malaysia, if they are that bad I might not apply it and stick with the NZ version.

So in the end they did not organize anything for you?

Any other people have experience with the concierge service?

I cant speak for Maybank Amex's concierge service, but Citibank Prestige and HLB Emirates have pretty good concierge.service.

For the Amex card, why not trying to PM any member here who is using the card? He / she might have a relationship manager who might be able to help you, and he/she also gets some referral points. Double win.

Great idea, didn't know Malaysia have referral bonus. Any member who have the Platinum Charge could you pm me your relationship manager email and referral code please? Thanks! thumbsup.gif

Sure, will update the results here once they get back to me. It has been 3 weeks already. Normally what is the average time frame to get an answer for applications?
The referral and signup bonus for the Malaysian version is just too good to pass, furthermore the MR earning rates is quite good actually if you travel a lot. Hopefully they will get back to me with good news.

Just to update, my application for the Malaysia platinum charge got declined. My guess is because I don't work in one of the neighboring countries around Malaysia.
Have send an email to ask what is the reason that they decline my application to get more clarity and hopefully help others.

I have opted for the NZ version of platinum charge, and got approved the next day thumbup.gif . Now that is what I called service.

Thanks for helping me guys! Maybe next year I'll try applying for the Malaysian once again when I know the reason for the declined application.

During your next application, inform them you are existing Amex holder in NZ, may have extra points for approval.

Also, I am wondering whether you can use Amex concierge service to get you the card. Haha.
*
Didn't know you can get extra points for being an existing Amex member else where.
hahaha dont think you can ask the concierge to do that tongue.gif .

But I heard there is a transfer program to other countries. But not sure its worth it as you will not get the sign up bonus
