Their customer service is not consistent, but it is still much better than most of the local banks. Also, Amex is more generous with promotions. Most of us have been benefited from the fast-growing points and cash back.

I still have the platinum credit card, they've waived my fees so far so that's been good. The gold charge card was cancelled years ago, I got my platinum charge card 1+ years ago.

Medical evacuation is a perk, if you've read some of the forums, people have been flown out by helicopter etc. when they've needed it. FHR has some good deals but I've not seen good deals in Malaysia yet, most of them overseas. Both are platinum charge card only benefits. Nice to have but not worth paying annual fees for in my opinion. There are others too eg. Marco Polo Club Gold, Europcar Emerald, Hertz Gold, etc.

Have not exceeded my credit limit yet, I do have a 6-figure limit that I never even come close to. If you're not keeping the Amex platinum charge card, talk to whatever bank and show your spend figures. I'm sure they'd love to give you that credit limit on their lesser cards.

Maybank AMEX exchange rate is very high.

Just realised if swipe in Malaysia online, there is 2.5% on top of the exchange rate compare to Visa and Master only 1-1.25%.

Both transaction did on the same day and approved just a few hours differences.
