still using 'old' amex, not yet applied for maybankard2 amex. tongue.gif

Correct me if I am wrong, so paying car insurance thru Etiqa:
1. Call Oneline 1300 13 8888 on Saturday entitles you 10% discount and they accepts MBB2Amex and gives 5% rebate.
2. Motortakaful -online (open 7/24) entitles you 10% discount but they dont accept MBB2Amex
3. Branch office (open Mon-Fri) no 10% discount but they accepts MBB2Amex.

Has anyone tried option 1 and get the 5% rebate? Read somewhere that the transaction might be regarded as Monday's transaction.

Motor insurance due soon and now contemplating switching to Etiqa for the extra 5% (on top of the 5x TP) through MBBKard 2 Amex, on top of the 10% rebate we enjoy for purchasing directly from the insurance companies. Anybody with AIA/Chartis motor insurance experience since it has been reported here that some of AIA's branches (eg Menara Axis) do accept AMEX, in particular the Jalan Ampang HQ?

*
Only the AIA HQ and Menara Axis's branch accepts AMEX but they dont open on Weekend. Paying on weekdays still entitle the 5xTP, I think still the best.

option 1, maybe u can try on a weekend & let us all know. on weekdays, 10% rebate is confirmed & accept amex over the phone.

option 2, tried to pay using amex twice yesterday, but both also failed. there's an option to select amex, visa or mastercard; not sure whether system error or what.

option 3, i remember going to maybank to renew last year, but they cant accept amex, so had to use cash. not sure now can already or not.
*
Then I will try option 2 first which definately gives 10%discount and might get 5%rebate if they accept Amex.

My car insurance expires on 16-April .

Yes ended in Feb but many of us yet to get the cash back. Anyway to update all, the CS told me Jan quota finish on 18th January and I have two transactions before then and she said she will let Marketing know to get the cash back sorted out.
*
Called MBB CS this morning to enquire about the 15% rebate for Feb and was told that we should know by early April. BTW he also told me the Feb promo ended on 20thFeb when the RM1 million rebate was fully distributed.

Tried to pay thru motortakaful.com (option 2) but terminated when this was displayed:

B) Types of Online Payment System offered are:
1) Credit Card (VISA or MASTERCARD)
2) FPX Internet Banking
3) Maybank2u.com

donpapachino at what stage did u see option to select AMEX?

I tried until the payment stage (3) and the credit card types are still Visa & Master, no AMex. So I abort the transaction.

Looks like I have to try option 1: the Etiqa Oneline (by phone) on a Saturday Morning

Passby TMpoint at Plaza Angsana JB few weeks ago and found out from them that I can pay TM bills using Amex. This afternoon went there to pay the bills using MBB2Amex but terminal would not accept it so have to use OCBC TI instead. According to the staffs they have previous accepted AMEX card. What a letdown.

Hi iloveusms, so you managed to renew your motor insurance thru motortakaful online using MBB2Amex card? I have been trying to do it yesterday and today(Sunday) but transactions were always unsuccessful eventhough the payment page showed that it accepted AMEX. Called MotorTakaful CS and they said will get back to me on Monday cos Sat work halfday.

American Express to offer coupons via Facebook

NEW YORK - AMERICAN Express is jumping into the daily deals arena.

The card issuer on Monday night will launch a Facebook application that offers personalized coupons based on a cardholder's likes, interests and other profile information. The announcement marks a significant entrant into the daily deals market, which has exploded in the past year.

For those familiar with Groupon and LivingSocial - by far the two largest daily deal sites - a key advantage of the Amex application is that there's no need to spend money up front to get a deal. Instead, cardholders simply click to add the deals they like to their Amex accounts. For example, if cardholders click on a deal to get $5 back for spending $20 at Whole Foods, they automatically get $5 credited to their Amex statement the next time they charge $20 at the market. Amex says credits should appear within three to five days after purchases are made, but may take up to two billing cycles.

In the Whole Foods example, cardholders would also earn Amex rewards points on the $15 that is ultimately charged to the card. There's no penalty if deals are never used.

With Groupon and LivingSocial, by contrast, consumers have to pay for deals up front. And there's no refund if the vouchers aren't redeemed before they expire.

It's not clear how personalized the Amex deals will be in the beginning, since the Facebook application is launching with offers from only about 100 national retailers. Amex says it plans to quickly start adding deals from local merchants in coming weeks. The Amex application offers key perks for merchants, too. -- AP

I wanted to get Ipad4 but still haven't launch yet.

It is the best time to utilise the full rebate. Harvey Norman (Ikano one) can be considered also right?

Hopefully the rebate won't finish by the time Ipad launch. Ipad4 where art thou?  sad.gif

With this clause need to check if the merchants is included in the promo or not, whether it is HarveyNorman, Ikea or All-It hypermart @ IPC and also MobilePhone Counters

1.10.1 Qualified Transaction includes transactions from departmental stores located at the Participating Shopping Malls for example Isetan, Tangs, Metrojaya, Parkson, Robinson, Tesco and Jusco Departmental Stores as well as merchants that sign-up before 15 Nov 2012.

There's a contradicting clause in the 15% Qualifying Transactions

Aren't Tesco = Hypermarket ?

Found out from the CS that Tesco is out from the qualifying merchant list and will be reflected in the T&C but until now still listed there.

Tesco has been taken out from the qualifying merchant list in the T&C at the Amex website but not the MBB one.

Well I hope I'm still entitled even though I swiped before registering. (assuming of course the 3 million has not been exhausted). Spent like 1k this morning so it would be great if I'll be entitled.

Thanks guys.

The ad for this promo was advertised in The Star yesterday, so I guess the rm3 million is not exhausted yet. Otherwise they will get a lot of shelling from customers who spent before yesterday.

May be the merchant didn't sign up by 15-Nov-2012 as stated in the T&C:

1.10.1 Qualified Transaction includes transactions from departmental stores
located at the Participating Shopping Malls for example Isetan, Tangs,
Metrojaya, Parkson, Robinson and Jusco Departmental Stores as well
as merchants that sign-up before 15 Nov 2012.

If transaction description in statement is AEON SMKT then it is supermarket; if AEON DEPT then it is department store.

All my AEON Department Store transactions at Tebrau City Mall JB were not included in the rebate calculation eventhough Jusco DeptStore is one of the participating Merchants as listed in the T&C. So I called the CS to dispute, and finally they replied that after verification they actually missed out 14 participating merchants and will reimburse me the balance at a later date.

Could this be the reason why the rebate is still available in Jan2013 while many people were expecting it to be fully used up in early Dec2012?
