My first thought would be, calculate your potential earnings from airmiles with your spend. If the points conversion works out to a redemption of your expectations and the fees are reasonable, then yes. Otherwise, I would not consider as airmiles conversion and redemption would inflate over time.

I do not know anyone in my circle that carries balance in their credit cards. I pay my credit cards all on time anyway. I'm only with AMEX Platinum Charge Card because of the pretty good airmiles conversion for SQ, the travel insurance, flight lounges (Priority Pass, Delta, Centurion, Plaza Premium/First), the possibility for golf green fee waiver (though I have never used it), occasional perks (VIP at 2025's LPGA Maybank Open), and being nice and sleek (it feels better than even the metal World Elite Mastercard by Maybank). I find it worth the RM 3,250 waiver ever year at my current spend and travel requirements.
