You seem pretty ignorant to the value of education.

Having a PhD doesn't mean your income is only 10k. When you teach, it goes by the hour. With phD, you can not only do research, you can become a consultant, publish, have talks etc. Those are all side incomes. You have job stability because there is always demand for PhD graduates because they are scarce in the market.

What's the most important is that the amount of prestige the title PhD carries. I know parents who sacrifice all their money, loans and all just so their children can go to the States. A very prodigal girl I know is now currently taking her Phd, completely skipping her masters. She's doing it in Harvard now. Her parents are so ridiculously proud of her when her face came out in the newspapers they bought so many copies of it and laminated her article. Even framed one on the wall.


I know so many, even they are no working their ass off in their early thirties, they are hell bent on obtaining their PhD. Most of them do it on a part time basis aka studying at night. Imagine they call you Doctor. You can feel the pride!

There are alot of scholarships for Phd. They are much much easier to get compared to getting an undergraduate scholarship because you have already proven your ability to study.

Most importantly, people don't study just to earn money. There is more value to education.

I had a talk with my parents just now. They want me to go to Nottingham because the university has a very good reputation, means when I graduate its easier for me to find a job. MNCs might scrutinize this as you climb up individual rungs of the ladder. They rather me go here than anywhere and my dad hates taylors, kdu, etc for reasons I'm not very sure of....
