Desire faces 1 big problem. A pitiful 150MB internal space and it is giving me a lot of pain. Trying to figure out how to root now, failing so far sad.gif

Anyway, pick the Desire HD if you like Desire.

well, u re losing the camera if u use that... and HTC is never famous for having nice camera phones...

Added on February 3, 2011, 4:33 pm

that is, if spikey dun mind the low battery life... that's a real deal killer...

uber large monitor with a large ROM and new Snapdragon does sound yummy, but only 1250mAh for battery? wat the hell is HTC thinking? it's the main reason y i picked Desire over DHD...
*
Hmm I didn't know that, thanks for letting know smile.gif

QUOTE(ShinnKQ @ Feb 3 2011, 04:54 PM)
How did you used your N8? Like what features you used with it?
IMO 150Mb isn't much of a big deal unless you're an App spammer, can root your phone. (heck if u dont like rooting why aren't u using iphone tongue.gif)

Battery issue is a pretty standard thing tbh. (Excl those giant big ;D) Most phones can last a day at most (considering u use it adequately and what Apps)

I mean, if you worry about battery, just use those old phones (Like 3310) that can last up to >4 days of idling, and Desire. tongue.gif

I don't know man, I'm not much of an app whore but I'm seriously facing problems especially when a lot of apps are using cache and data builds over time, all on internal memory. Not everyone buys an Android thinking to root man, in itself Android is already SO MUCH better than iPhone, thus the reason why we chose Android. I just rooted right before posting this, couldn't stand low memory anymore lol, and I want Gingerbread!

QUOTE(nick67 @ Feb 3 2011, 05:03 PM)
Lol. If you know what to do, the internal memory isn't a problem.

I have 1gig internal memory now..Cannot finish also..
*
Eh? How did you get 1GB of internal memory on Desire? Are you sure? sweat.gif

Can one. Mine is 300mb xD

He probably used Data2Whatever =]
the low int issue has nothing to do with Android. Just the phone tongue.gif Blame HTC ya~ but root can fix this issue no problem~

Yah! Wonder why HTC missed this.

Man, Rom Manager and Titanium Backup sure makes things so much easier. I've tried MIUI, fantastic I think but the iPhone looks and especially the dialer turned me off a little. Trying Cyanogen 6.1 now. Is 7 stable?

Btw a question. You know in our original HTC ROM, when we dial for a number, it picks up either the number or the letters. But in MIUI, it does not pick up letters, meaning I MUST remember the number of the other person in order to get to him, that is very inconvenient and honestly the very reason that shy me away from MIUI. Is it like that or am i doing something wrong?

CM7 in stable already..

That's the advantage of HTC sense.. easy to find contact.. i think this is the only rom that pick up the number or letter to find contact...  wub.gif

Really...? Wow... How do you guys make calls then... Its so extremely tedious not able to find by name...

Using ROM Manager to do all my flashing stuff. So looks like I hit a wall now, is it save to shut down my phone and try to do things manually?

before this.. i wipe n flash with rom manager.. and i have the issue that all google app like talk, navigator and etc is missing even though i wipe all data and reinstall the gapps..

after that, i wipe and flashing trough recovery itself, all google app back to normal again..

Went into ClockWorkMod and flash my phone back to MIUI. Will follow your steps and flash CM7 smile.gif Now that I've done it... rooting and flashing is pretty safe... How come people make it to be so dangerous? Or I've not encounter the dangerous part yet?

my MIUI dialer detects letters just fine, or do you mean numbers?
if you want to detect number you have to start with "#" before dialing the number.

IMO MIUI dialer is actually a better dialer than Sense dialer
*
Apparently I was using an old version of MIUI, cant even change themes. Change to the latest one and everything works fine now smile.gif But it only traces the first letter in each word, its good enough smile.gif

Nick, or anyone, I used ROM manager to create an ext3 partition on my SD card, however what can I use to move apps there? My current options are Titanium, and what it does is move things to my SD card not ext3, then I have normal ones which doesn't move things to ext3 as well. MIUI Rom comes with A2SD+ so I should be able to transfer apps to the ext3 but so far I've not been able to do it, or at least control when it is stored on ext3.

P/s I know Darktremor's A2SD+ is available but I'm not sure if its compatible with MIUI since its not listed under the compatible list.

I thought Android alreay surpassed Ifag liao...

Anyway, i got a problem....i'm always running low on storage on the Desire's miserable 512MB storage....any remedy?? Not all the apps can be moved to SD storage card....a lot of them still default to internal storage and unmovable....sad.gif

I was like you, struggling until 1 day I couldn't take it and rooted + flashed my rom, and now I'm here thinking I shoulda done it a long time ago! Do it! You wont regret it.

No, don't plan to root my phone. I'm perfectly happy with HTC Sense. Don't wanna screw it. Right now i am already on Froyo 2.2. Some apps can be moved to SD card, but some apps can't. Does A2SD etc allows ALL apps to be moved to SD card??
*
Rooting does not mess up your HTC Sense man, you can still use it. If you'd like to go further there is a better HTC Sense ROM than the one HTC produced.

Maybe you can recommend some links to do the rooting? Which ROM is better? I want HTC Sense inside. Have u managed to buy apps from the US market with a rooted Desire?

Check out the first page, a lot of info. But here's the one I used.

I'm setting up through setting > Accounts & Sync > Add Account > Exchange ActiveSync.

I entered the following as per info given by my company IT:
- Email address
- Server Address
- Domain
- Username
- Password
- Check "SSL encrypted option"

I was previously trying to set this up to my previous company exchange server also failed.  sad.gif

Start wondering if Desire Exchange ActiveSync really can work  hmm.gif
*
Hmm? My phone is connected to my company's exchange and I can receive mails just fine, just that it will enforce some policies on my phone. Where are you stuck at?
