If ever your N8 failed to boot up (mean pressing the power button but no response), do as follow:
1. Verify is it a SW hang by long press the power button >7.5 seconds to force shutdown the N8. This is for SW hang scenario 2. Plug in the charger and wait for AT LEAST 15 minutes, then try to boot up. This is for depleted battery scenario 3. If you are SURE the battery not depleted and got the DEAD N8, send to NCC for checking as it might be defective hardware related issues.
From experience, the N8 can't be Hard Reset once it's failed to boot up normally or so call "DEAD N8".

3. Go into an enclose place (total darkness needed) wait for a while (to let our eyes get use to the darkness) and view into the phone screen.
4. From what I've observed the phone AMOLED will start to turn off start at "ST BLACK-04.bmp", "ST BLACK-03.bmp", "ST BLACK-02.bmp", "ST BLACK-01.bmp",
"ST BLACK-00.bmp".
5. The screen dark "stains" will sufface as well during these few color cards.
6. Start from "ST BLACK-05.bmp" onward the dark "stains" will be not so visible.
7. All these have to be done in total darkness room as these defective "stains" are not visible at all when the surrounding are bright.
After you seen these result DO NOT simply bash N8 straight away as we're not sure why/how the AMOLED display technology work and how it perform on other

01. KS Improvement - Improve on Kinetic Scrolling, now your list will be easier/faster/longer on kinetic scroll (you wil SURE feel the different)
02. UI Improvement - Experiment Mod - Experiment mods, changed the default FPS from 67FPS to 33FPS and max processing power from 75% to 100%. Need more users experience feedback on it's actual improvement (if it have any)
03. Landscape Dialer - To enable the phone dialer able to rotate same as others screen (not lock on just potrait mode)
04. Camera Sound Mute - Enable the camera sound to be mute when warning tone been turn off.
05. Continuous AutoFocus - You will have an EXTRA option under Video Setting that enable the Continuous AF during video.
For Mods #6,#7,#8, ONLY select 1 option, if multiple options selected the top most option will be use.

22. Camera Full Shutdown (RAM) - Camera apps will fully shutdown once you close the apps (won't remain in the memory), but the N8 have better camera apps as the total shutdown and without only make ~1Mb ram saving (not like what we see in 5800xm as it's camera apps are memory whore)
23. Fast Screen Rotation - Can feel "a bit" faster but not lighting fast as the delay seem not from the sensor but rather from the UI.
24. FM Transmitter RDS - The FM Transmitter now send RDS "Nokia N8" and not just "Nokia".
25. Video Call FPS Improvement - Slightly change the video call setting fps from original min/norm/max of 5/10/15 to 10/15/20. Not tested as not really use video call.
26. MSG/LOGS/CONT/CLK/CAL Shutdown (RAM) - Disable Messaging, Logs, Contacts, Clock, Calendar Apps from staying in the background after you exit them.
27. Database Max Record Count - Experimental mod, Increase database from 20 to 50.
28. Default Application Orientation State - Change default orientation from Landscape to Hardware Sensor.

Err,,, by the way, if you did it wrong the 2nd time the box will not turn green. To end, press the camera button again. Then wait for it to compose the panaromic view. After that, go to Flickr and post your results there.

Got instruction right that say to hold still? So you hold still. After it take photo also you just hold still until it tell you to move your phone to overlap about 1/3 of the previous photo. Do it over and over until u satisfied. After that click the camera button to join the image.

Because power saving mode is meant to save power but then again , mine can be detected while in power saving mode.

power saving mode switch to gsm mode when battery is low only. When there is sufficient power, power saving mode will not kick in.

erm... I mean the power saving mode in the wifi>option>setting>power saving>enable/disabled.
that's for wifi saving mode rite? if i disabled it i can detect my modem. sometime cant. if i enabled it i cant even detect any wifi.
now i had new problem... after connect to my wifi and disconnected it, it cant detect my modem edi even in power saving disable mode.

with WLAN power saving enabled, are u able to detect ur modem AP if u put it very near? as i know, the WLAN power saving is a feature that auto cut off ur WLAN connection if u inactive for a period of time. And also the transmit rate of the WLAN will be slower a bit when it is turn on. If u disable the WLAN power saving, streaming youtube would be much faster also.

I did try to put my phone side by side with the antenna of my modem but still cannot detect after i disconnect from it.
I had to restart my modem then only i can connect my n8 to the modem again.
nope... my laptop 24 hours connect using wifi... even i dced my wifi and connect also no problem...

it will refect the sound ma..dun know o..my seller told me one..he advice me to always put the speaker facing up...mean that the screen is always down..

I Flashed my phone yesterday with v 13.15 from the Quality assurance section of the Navifirm. Flashing went well and I got a free space of 232 MB in C: Drive. (I edited my previous UDA and deleted all the data and added just "sys\bin\installserver.exe"). Now for the Plus points. -RAM Management is excellent (Maybe They can Do Better). Now I get 142MB free upon Booting and After Using musicplayer, Games, HDMI etc the RAM has been around 128MB. Previously I had 119MB on Boot and 97-102MB After Use. -Browser more refined than before, But still crashed. -Phone is Faster -Music Player more responsive (I think So) and improved. -Installserver hack Still working -Gallery Browsing Enhanced

my n8 sometimes create heat even thou im not using it...i even close all application (ie wireless lan) and put it saving mode... can anybody assist me?

set iso to medium. Exposure increase a bit. Use flash.

i go put on the anti finger print screen protector already
last time i used that for my 5800XM, but the screen not so nice with it. more harsh and dim and like got noise effect. but at least it can reduce the fingerprint on it

Try to shoot without using the flash and it will look more natural. Just make sure there's enough ambient light around the subject and try to frame it so that it tells a story about the subject.

I suggest if you use photoshop right, copy your entire image then file new, enlarge the image size then ok then paste. This will give you a border...Or you can use Picasa photo editor That's very easy

Nop, the battery has this "smart" feature where once it's full it'll stop charging by itself So even if u leave overnight it won't charge more than needed That's y nokia boast it being eco friendly coz it doesn't waste energy
But yet if we leave the charger on it still waste energy... lol
What i mean is the longer i use my phone around after 1-2months I noticed the battery last longer than previously
