The GPU is nice, so far I only tested the Black Ops, with all setting to highest and AA 16x.

Try doing a 3Dmark06 test? So we can all witness to how great is the GPU hehe

Heh, kind of lazy to do a review, just ask whatever you wanna ask, and I'll try my best to answer all your question.  rclxms.gif

Question 1: Heat

Can you do a heat test to show how hot the CPU and GPU become under idling conditions (do nothing, a bit of internet surfing, maybe some torrenting or music playing) and heavy load conditions (gaming, etc)? Kindly note if you were using a notebook cooler during the tests, and the ambient room temperature at the time or if you were doing it with the AC on or the fan on.

Question 2: Graphics switching (method)

Can you tell us how ATI's system does it? Is there a hardware button? Is there a list that you can edit to tell the system to switch to the ATI GPU automatically if X program is run?

Question 3: Graphics switching (implementation)

nVidia's competing Optimus system does a theoretically automatic shift between the Intel GPU and the nVidia GPU with almost no visible transition (no black screen, screen distortion or short flash of weirdness). Does ATI's
solution also do it seamlessly, or is there still the old temporarily black screen/must reboot/etc?

Question 4: RAM slots

Asus' N53S series has 4 total RAM slots. Can you please check how many RAM slots the dv6 has? How was the RAM supplied out of the box (2x2GB, 1x4GB, etc)?

Question 5: Installed bloatware

What programs does HP install for you on the system? Are any of them critical to the normal functioning of the system (eg. Asus' ATK thingy - uninstall this and your hardware shortcuts stop working)?

Question 6: Heat architecture

Can you take pictures of the bottom of the notebook so that we can see where the intake vents and cooling fans are?

Question 7: Pictures

While you're at it, can you take a few pictures of the keyboard, sides (to see the layout of the USB ports etc) and so on, just to poison us?

Thanks.

Well, questions like build quality, keyboard.. Why don't you guys go test the real thing yourself though? Other than the touchpad, the other things are quite similar to the previous year-2010 pavilion-dv series.. Also it's subjective and varies person to person... For instance, I might think that build quality like 4830TG is good, but Acer-hate boys would say it's shit no matter what...

Answer:
Question 1
Just check on the attachment below, note that I'm not using any cooler when testing and it's under normal temperature room and with a ceiling fan turn on only. When on gaming like Black Ops, I don't feel the palm rest is hot but only warm with all the highest setting turn on and AA for 16x and it's real smooth without lag.

Question 2 & 3
I found that the nVidia Optimus is way better at least it can automatically change the GPU according to different need, but for ATI it's not that bad also, what you need to do for changing the GPU is just right click on the desktop and select the Switchable GPU then just select the GPU you want to. There is an option where you can enable it so that when under battery mode it will automatically use the Intel GPU instead of the ATI ones. Btw, I haven't really play with this function in depth as I'm not really using it. What I want is just when AC plugged in then use ATI while battery plugged then use Intel, I don't need anything extra than these, so I found the ATI is more than enough for me. Btw, switching the GPU do not require any reboot nor black screen.

Question 4
This model only comes with 2 RAM slots, not like N series that comes with 4 slots, but it's more than enough for me to slot in two 4GB Ram with a total of 8gb Ram.

Question 5
This is the part that I like the most, HP doesn't come with those useless bloat ware, in fact it only has few programs installed maybe like 5-6 which I found it's really useful so no point to uninstall it since it's useful to me. And so far I didn't uninstall anything yet but only the Norton AV program, other remain there as it's really useful, such as the HP SenseCool which it can use to adjust the fan speed according to the user need, whether you need Coolest, Optimized, or Quiet Mode. This is really useful. Initally I was thinking to do a clean install on this laptop but then I found the Windows that comes with this laptop is clean enough so useless for me to do another clean format, by the way the boot time for this laptop is around 40secs++ without uninstall any bloat ware and remain the same after I installed those games and software. Of course done a defragment.

Question 6
It has quite a lot of vents under the laptop, I think around 4-5 vents for different compartment such as RAM, HDD, and etc.

Question 7
I thought one of the owner already uploaded so many picture for this laptop with different angle?

Conclusion
I do like this laptop so much, it's simply awesome. Initially I was planning to buy the N53SN but after struggling for a while then I decided to go for the HP one. Although it's a bit higher price than the Asus one but at least I get extra thing like GPU stronger, and etc. One thing I need to mention is the finger print reader, I found this is really useful, not only it can be used to login the windows but also for facebook, yahoomail, and etc. What you need to do is just setup the password for your facebook, yahoomail, and etc account, so the next time whenever you access to your website you just can simply swipe your finger print to login to the website which really useful for me. Regarding the battery life, it can last around 2 hours and 30 minutes with gaming on, while last around 5 hours with only wifi turn on and web surfing and brightness to the lowest. The laptop build quality is so solid especially the keyboard, I just like it so much and it's without any flex at all. Regarding the touchpad, it's good to use, but I found the multi gesture is not that sensitive like those Macbook, no way to compare with Apple as their build quality is always awesome. Regarding the speaker, what I can say it's so much better compare to N53SN, it's really loud clear, and a bit bassy and without cracking sound even turn to the loudest. I enjoy the speaker so much as it has 4 speakers which two speakers are locate above the keyboard and another two locate at the front panel. Beats is really Beats, as it really Beats the Sound & Olufsen.

Thanks for the feedbacks bro~ I think many will consider this model as well nod.gif
The temps seemed okay too thumbup.gif
Err... no cons at all? laugh.gif
How's the touchpad buttons? Do they feel cheap when pressing?

About the fingerprint thingy, is it really that useful? Sometimes they tend to be abit "insensitive", ended up swiping a lot of times and in the end need to manually type the password anyway (for the models I've tried before la) haha laugh.gif
Oh ya.... and not to mention the regular "electric shocks" you get from the reader tongue.gif

Regarding the touchpad I don't feel it's cheap but a bit noisy when clicking on it, but it's still fine for me. Only the con I found for this laptop is the keyboard fn keys and f1-12 keys because it's terbalik for it's function, example like if I want to rename the file usually it needs to press f2 but now I have to press fn plus f2. No the fingerprint is very sensitive, only require one swap will do.

I don't think Asus will bring i7 for N43SL as it's already promoted in their May brochure that this model is come with i5 only, so just get this instead now, no need to wait, and for the weight I found it's lighter than any other laptop with 15"6 inches.

Yup it's definitely one of the lightest 15 inch around, the previous dv6 slightly lighter though...

Regarding the Fn+ Fx keys.. I think there's an option to invert it, forgot where is it though, somewhere in BIOS probably...

i'm still hoping when asus put their may brochure on the website, n43sl i7 is included..who knows.. last minute update tongue.gif
anyway I think it's 90% already decided that I'm going to get this dv6... planning to go to LYP next week.. the price still at rm3299 (without the beat headset), right? and I can always choose to not to take the beat headset, right (scared that nnt ade shop kate tak bole pulak)?
*
IMO, RM3299 without headset is not worthed.... The headset is a Genuine beats solo headphone worth at least RM899, you can always sell in Garage Sales for around Rm700 then your cost of laptop is only Rm3000...
