We are lucky to be able to get anyone decent on the last day of the transfer window. This is why many are disenchanted and disappointed with Torres.

I am sure if we had time, there are better deals out there... but Andy is a monster, and young too. I feel bad for Newcastle.

seconded. I rate andy carroll much more than benzema, milan will nver let pato go. Lukaku would be good but of course, unproven other than in the belgian league and reluctant to leave. holding out for a deal for the next transfer window with only ngog and suarez at our disposal would be too risky. infact it was what hodgson did last window and see what happened. i would go for forlan but he's old and off form this season so it's as big a risk as carroll (cheaper, about 10m but 10m for nothing is 10m wasted.)

For me Carroll is worth the price tag. EPL defenders are known to be strong in the air and Carroll is scoring goals like fun with his head against the best defenders out there and he's just 22!

And 10m rated corner kicks to him will be fun!
