Our defense is pretty bad...I think our defense is worse than Wolves' when Carra or Agger is not around (esp. Carra)! Very bad marking and awareness in the box...I've supported Liverpool since about 10 years ago but I've never seen our defense so shaky and lack of confidence to win headers. Everytime Everton take a corner or free kick my heart is pounding...
No wonder we are terrible under Uncle Woy, he's trying his best to play a defensive approach with counter attacks and long balls/hoofs....but our defense is the one causing all sorts of problems to ourselves and losing confidence in the process. I think all the other EPL teams will know how to break down our defence...by simply delivering high or long balls with or without set pieces. Sigh...we need to get a CB fast. Agger has issues with his injuries and if it continues, It will not do us any good. We were too reliant on Carra's shouting and instructions, and hell break lose when he's not around. Skrtel still doesn't seem World Class to me, I've seen him day in and day out...and he's just an average mistake prone CB. We could get rid of him or injury prone Agger and get another proper CB please. Someone who can shout and command in case Carra isn't around. In our attacking department, things are looking not bad. Even when we are missing Gerrard, we still have shots on target and Torres just lack a bit of luck today to nick at least one goal. I hope Gerrard returns and make the whole team stronger by supplying more passes, make more forward runs and open up more spaces for the others. From what i see, Comolli is like an aunty going bargaining in Pasar Pagi/Malam...always wanting to buy players below their value a lot....no wonder the Ajax and Blackpool camp are pissed off.

QUOTE(digilife @ Jan 25 2011, 01:52 PM) I didn't underestimate him la. It may piss off the sellers, but actually bargaining @ aunty in pasar attitude is good to save up cash for other uses. Plus King Kenny is right...the market is so inflated now (e.g. Darren Bent), most smaller/medium clubs wants lots of moneh for their players to build themselves up. Thats why our potential targets Suarez, Llorente, Adam maybe overpriced by their clubs. It'll be good if we can get a player or two, but most importantly we are moving forward. The likes of Torres, Meireles, Johnson, Agger, Kelly and even Poulsen is improving under King Kenny. King Kenny has also yet to rebuild Joe Cole and Gerrard is just back from his 3 match ban. |

QUOTE(leftist @ Jan 25 2011, 02:37 PM) Yea...digilife, alonso admitted he is one of the slowest and less mobile player in LFC previously, while Meireles/Gerrard/Aquilani are players who are always on the move and looking for forward runs and does well in tracking back players for defensive duties. Meireles, Gerrard and Aqua are more similar to each other rather than Alonso.Speaking of Aqua, I think he'd do well under King Kenny...as his style is always passing and moving anyways. But too bad Juventus prolly gonna buy him up. :/ |

QUOTE(darth6 @ Jan 25 2011, 03:16 PM) Hah? I thought Juventus already did buy him,is he still on loan ? If he is,we should stick him up as soon as we get him Woy loan aqua to Juve till end of season, with an option to buy him at about 15m if I not mistaken. Most of us are WTF at that time, as Aquilani was just healed and start playing good football in the end of last season. The reason woy sold him? He said Aqua wasn't fit, and need playing time. He also said Juventus only wanted a permanent deal so Woy accepted. If I were Aqua I would be pissed off by Woy who is talking a lot of crap...if you need me, just loan me enough la, don't give them an option to sign me at end of season! No wonder he say he is enjoying his time in Juve now... And news are saying Juventus is eager to get Aquilani to bolster their midfield since he is fitting well to their system. Well well, this is the same Woy Hodgson who sold off Roberto Carlos to Real Madrid when he was at Inter. |

QUOTE(fzul07 @ Jan 26 2011, 09:29 AM) I think we cant get any player for this transfer window.. But, come on.. Suarez for 12.5mil? 20mil is more suitable.. its like some other club want to buy our torres for just 20mil.. And for Charlie Adam, i dont know if we need him or not.. Maybe we could sign a new player or two this season, but there is not complete MUST that we sign a new player. Everybody is playing well under Kenny Dalglish so far, and even the likes of Spearing and Kelly is getting their chances. Remember that he still havent get Joe Cole and Ngog playing much yet, especially Joe Cole. Suso and Coady also was upgraded to play with the seniors.Added on January 26, 2011, 9:31 amAlso 1 thing i really dont understand is why we dont just buy a good winger?? Turan, Elia, Affelay etc.. Maybe our owners want to emulate Arsenal/Barca way by pushing up their youth ranks first? Maybe Comolli was told to buy players at a discount, but if there is no discount then just leave it? Only they know, we fans can only guess... This post has been edited by kazuki85: Jan 26 2011, 09:40 AM |

QUOTE(leftist @ Jan 26 2011, 02:01 PM) quite good for 10-20 yard pass..long passes inconsistent..plus his vision is not as good as xabi or adam..one thing he's good at...scoring goals from outside the box! Meireles is well known as an all rounder box-to-box midfielder back in Portugal...similar mold as a young Gerrard where he can take long shots, make good passes, mobile and able to track back players to help the defence. His passing and vision may not be as good as Alonso or Adam...but he's passes aren't bad either. And I hope he improves over time because for a midfielder he's still young at 27. Most midfielders peak at 29-31 years of age. In short, he's the jack of all trades! He's sure hardworking by running his socks off and mobile, which probably why Kenny, Woy, and us fans like him...like how we like Dirk Kuyt. QUOTE(MHAffendi @ Jan 26 2011, 03:57 PM) What Liverpool requires now is a Forward to ease the burden on Torres. At the moment Torres is playing upfront alone. Although he is good, but when the midfield doesn't work, he will become isolated. And since he is alone upfront, 2-3 opponent players can easily mark him. If there is another forward, this will allow Torres some space to breath and allows him to make more forward runs. This problem is very very evident during Rafa's last season and Woy's regime. After the display at wolves, Torres is no longer isolated. King Kenny probably ask Meireles, Kuyt, and Maxi to follow Torres closely for support. Heck even Lucas made forward runs and Poulsen had a shot on target!King Kenny was one of the best attacking player in his time and he's transferring his attacking ideas into the current crop of players now. Pass and move FTW! |

So much for the two sexist pundits to say "Women didn't know offside"...
We should've got 1-0 up early, and the game will definitely change. Stockdale was brilliant tonight I think, but Paintsil was LOL. He showed his temper lagi... But at least it was 3 points in the bag, and remember Fulham were no slouches either...they were on a good roll recently (4 wins in 6 games or something) until we stop them. Gerrard looked rusty and lacking match fitness after missing 3 matches, where some of his passes are too short/too long. But it's okay, I'm sure he will recover soon...after all, King Kenny can even motivate Poulsen to perform, what bout Gerrard? This post has been edited by kazuki85: Jan 27 2011, 09:40 AM |

QUOTE(vreis @ Jan 27 2011, 11:28 AM) I actually think when Rafa played Stevie on the right, he was decent. He had more license to go forward, and more thread down the right flank. Now with Meireles's movement causing headaches among defenders, he may do well there if Kuyt is tired/injured... |

I'm very disappointed with Torres...I treated him as a hero and Liverpool savior and now he is trying to sabotage us in the last minute. Why can't you wait till end fo the season so we can find proper a replacement?
Even Alonso who has decided to leave us after falling out with Rafa, put up a world class season for us and waited till the end of the season to be transferred to Madrid. I know no player is bigger than the club, but I'm just sad that he lets the whole world know that he wants to go now. Bad timing indeed. |

What bout Jovanovic, our player who doesn't want to leave us?
He played as a striker for Standard Liege...maybe he can be considered if We can't get Anelka? Seems like Anelka doesn't want to come. Kuyt can play upfront too, so is N'gog and even Dani Pachecho or Suso. |

QUOTE(kamkamparadise @ Jan 31 2011, 11:45 AM) not all player can do a Matt Le Tissier. A big fan of Southampton. Rejects big money move to the likes at MU, Liv and etc. At his final game, he has no regret for not leaving Southampton to pursue personal glory but just said, 'i'm happy as the fans came to watch me playing and the fans get what they wants'. So is Pavel Nedved, Gigi Buffon, Del Piero, Francesco Totti (all these that I can think of). They had loads of offer from other big clubs but they decided to stay put on their clubs even though they didn't really win much trophies in their clubs. Nedved, Buffon and Del Piero sticked with Juve even their clubs are shamed in the scandal and got relegated. I'm still disappointed with Torres though, if he left in the end of the season I would forgive him...like how Atletico fans let him go to us. The timing is terrible, and going to a rival team in the EPL makes it worse too. If he hands in his transfer request earlier this month, we would have time to get another striker too. But seems like he deliberately trying to unsettle Liverpool and us. So much for me having a Torres jersey. I felt more gutted than when Owen left us where he left in the beginning of the season, and with many of his mates such as Beckham, his dad and Sven Goran Eriksson all brainwashing/encouraging him to move to Madrid. I had an Owen jersey too back then. |

QUOTE(fhatz @ Jan 31 2011, 04:21 PM) sorry if slowpoke... I am more confident in Suarez cause he has pace, strength and leadership as shown in Ajax. He doesn't sulk much and that's why the Ajax president say we got a "Street Fighter" in him. And that also means he has a very strong winning mentality and wont be shy to block a goal with his hands. news said suarez passes medical.. SOS hope he can adept our game fast.. i really hope he will not be like forlan.. most american latin player cannot adept with English football n life style |

QUOTE(skyz @ Jan 31 2011, 11:37 PM) 25m pound for player like gomez is considered crazy money edy... luckily they turned it down... i believe in carroll... one tall one short, he n suarez just complete each other... thumbs up Somehow I feel it can work too. Carroll is a young prospect and he's already battered many defences already with his aerial ability, and his finishing is pretty decent too. Suarez in the other hand has pace and finishing too. Mouth already watering at this prospect... |

Carroll is very good for his age. I think the money paid to buy him maybe a lot, but I'm sure he will repay back with goals throughout the years.
Plus I'm sure many players out there like how King Kenny transformed Liverpool in just a few matches, and how Liverpool is seeming making a revival. Yes, it maybe a big gamble...but the market is so inflated right now, the 35m we paid for Carroll seems small for what Madrid, Man City, Chelsea and Man Utd pay for big name players. Plus English players are expensive anyways. This post has been edited by kazuki85: Jan 31 2011, 11:48 PM |
