Read here.
http://www.practical-home-theater-guide.co...g-distance.html If you have hyper-active kids, you might want to higher up a little bit |

Sit on your favorite spot comfortably. Get somebody else to measure the height from floor to your eyes. That will be the center point of your TV. If that height is say, four feet, you can set it 6 inches higher than that but no more.

QUOTE(Robin Liew @ Jan 13 2011, 10:19 PM) just got my sharp led quatrron The best is sink in into your sofa, LCD is smack dead center with your eye level, but if you think its too low, LCD screen bottom same level as you eyes is still OK.what is the suitable height to hane the tv on the wall? i notice some ppl hanging it a bit higher But if your sofa has nice angled support for the neck, it is possible to go a bit higher up....lets say...top of your head same level as bottom of the LCD...but as i said, your sofa needs to have an angled area to support the neck. |

In ergonomics term, the comfortable viewing angle is when your eyes level is at the top of the screen. Not in the middle of the screen like popular belief mind you.
![]() Apply that to any screen (be it laptop, desktop, tv or cinema). Humans will automatically readjust their eyes level after few minutes to accomodate this angle to prevent eye strain/neck pain etc by adjusting the screen or adjusting their head. If you placed the TV too high, your viewer need to lean back his/her neck on the sofa to achieve this comfortable viewing angle. If you placed the tv in the bed room, then it should be high coz you will be lying down on the bed while watching or else you gonna have to sit on the bed through out the movie or else you gonna have headache. but with the laptop/monitor you can tilt the display. viewing angle is impt especially for lcd tvs so i guess that's why it's recommended to set the height to middle of the screen when you view seated. also best view straight in and not from the side .........

best position: tv's centre slightly lower than your eye level when seated.
