QUOTE(jackalxxx @ Jan 3 2013, 01:41 PM) guys latency is nothing do with the bandwidth how much u got is more to the how many hob u need to reach the game server. Ofc the line stability is also count. MTU packet sending also count. I'm tired explaining this. If you own the whole line, I believe 384kbps is sufficient for online gaming.I experienced Streamyx 512kbps, 200 - 300ms w/o tunneling Streamyx 4mbps, 200 - 300ms w/o tunneling, 500-700 with youtube running, 1k with PPS / torrent running (whenever PPS / torrent, it is not playable) Digi 3G broadband tethered from my phone, 250 - 350ms w/o tunneling I plug 3G when my housemate / gf is running high bandwidth streaming. I've also tried tunnel and w/o tunnel, both give me same result. Theoretically tunneling should give better latency but practically in my situation, same result. I'm going to try Unifi so that the bandwidth is sufficient to run PPS + Torrent + WoW simultenously, however will keep 3G as backup in case Unifi fails me. I've also been told to config the router to make WoW top priority of all connections, have not try it yet. I stay in Setia Alam. |

Unifi VIP (designed for hardcore MMORPG gaming to say the least)since april 2012, been very stable between 250-350, occasional spikes when TM doing their upgrades, but overall thumbs up, i'm not ashamed to queue for public runs anymore so yeay, owh and considering I'm playing on a US based server, 250 -350 is actually way better than US based ISP, but remember that latency is also pretty much depends on traffic and what ever programs that you are running other than WoW, frame rates is also a good indicator

im using streamyx 1mbps...my ping? 240ms...and im running with high graphic setting.
wanna know the secret? change the DNS...no need to use TM DNS, it sucks. mostly the case with high latency, slow connection and browsing are related to DNS DNS i use is : prefered: 208.67.222.222 alternate: 208.67.220.220 if u check online, this DNS are called openDNS, it belongs to company that monitor and improve connection. btw, i work for TM and i know their DNS are not good. gaming person only need minimum streamyx 1mbps connection and i recommend u guys to upgrade to UNIFI if u prefer lower than 240ms latency and at the same time u are a heavy downloader. 240 - 300ms is already good for raiding and arena. if u experience low fps, dont blame connection, blame your wood pc. hohohhoh This post has been edited by mibuwolf: Mar 5 2013, 07:10 AM |
