About us

Inspired by the original group f64 from the late 20th century, the name was chosen from the small aperture setting on a large format camera. This aperture gives a great depth of field, rendering a photograph evenly sharp from the foreground to the background.

Group f64 promotes straight or pure photography; which was at that time defined as,

"possessing no qualities of technique, composition or idea, derivative of any other art form"

Therefore we are here to keep to the original manifesto of the original group, who strives to define photography as an art form by simple and direct presentation through purely photographic methods.

By using black & white photography methods, means and techniques, we aim to build a community of similar minded photographers through darkroom and photography workshops, discussions, image sharing and support groups.

This workshops will be conducted by two international-acclaimed photography trainers, Mikey and Andy, the principal owners of the popular website www.lightenupandshoot.com (these guys are fun and hilarious yet effective!). Mikey and Andy have designed their workshops as little lecture time as possible. Throughout the lecture there will be hands on shooting by the students.

Tri-Factor Glam Night Audition is now OPEN!

There are many fashion competitions out there that focus solely on models, fashion designers or fashion photographers. This time, we would like to introduce a brand new concept known as 'Tri-Factor' whereby we will organize a fashion competition that combines modeling, photography, and fashion designing. In short, from the auditions, our panel of judges will select the top 20 contestants from each category: modeling, photography, and fashion designing and we will randomly assign them to teams of 3. Together, they will go through a series a mini-competitions leading up to the Grand Finale. The Grand Finale is Malaysia's first fashion concert and it will be held on the 22nd of October, 2011, at KL Live (Life Centre). The points for each model, photographer and fashion designer will be accumulated, the winning team with the highest score will win the title 'Tri-Factor Glam Night Champion' at the end of the Grand Finale.

For the Grand Finale, it's called fashion concert because it won't be just a model back and forth with plain and mundane music. At our Tri-Factor Glam Night's runway, models will be walking on a very unique V shaped runway, and they will be accompanied by singing, dancing, and fire breathing performers. It will be a dynamic fashion concert. There will also be celebrities performing, so far, we have Jaclyn Victor, Beat The System, Yuna, Tom, Fiq, Iqwal, Iz, top model Eleen Yong, fashion guru Amelia Tan, and professional photographer Jacky Koh confirmed. We have also extended our invitation to Dato' Michelle Yeoh, Amber Chia, Khoon Hooi, etc.

Our audition is now open and will be held at e@Curve on the 25th and 26th of June, from 10.30am to 8.30pm. It's open to all contestants who are interested in either modeling, photography, or fashion designing. They must be above the age of 16. The modeling category is limited to females only, whilst the other categories (photography and fashion designing) can consist of both males and females.

Audition criteria for PHOTOGRAPHERS
- Males or females
- Required to submit at least one 5R-8R sized photograph that showcases your photography talent

Showcase as many wonderful and amazing pictures in your existing collection to impress the judges!

Audition details
Date : 25th and 26th of June, 2011 (Saturday and Sunday)

Time : 10.30am to 8.30pm

Venue : South Circle, LG Floor, e@Curve
