Hi, recently i am trying out the microsoft security essential, replacing AVG, i would like to know if this is a good software? I mean in terms of protection, false positive and software crash?

If i install MSE, is it necessary to install the windows defender as well?

for your information i am using window xp sp2.

thanks for your kind attention and help =)

It's good actually, for free antivirus. Very less false positive detection, and less software crash (I rarely get crashes with MSE) nod.gif .

Install MSE alone is enough and don't have to worry about window defender, we don't need them after MSE.

Btw, MSE will automaticly disable window defender by it's own (just if your windows have Window Defender).

I see, thanks for the info =)

Is MSE enough on its own? Or do you use any compliment software like malwarebytes to take care of things other than viruses?

Malwarebytes is not an AV so you can have it on ur system as well smile.gif

Never use 2 real-time antivirus together.

MSE is one of the AV which I continuously support after usage, gave up Kaspersky as it is growing demanding on system resources and many stupid prompt (eg the email receive one).

MSE left little footprint on your system in comparison, do job silently at background which seldom requires your attention, and only prompt when it really have to

MSE - stop using it, later more people use and ended up like Kasperksy, Kaspersky used to pretty good AV until Jackie Chan ruin it for good

in other saying (doh.gif laugh.gif), it's lightweight AV and i use it.

Must have much more people using it, if not they will not be enough people collecting the av treat ma.
