I see everybody poking fun of the reflection but I think it was intentional. You can't see anything useful anyway. The shape of the SGS2 has been leaked before and can be seen in another part of the video too.

I'm still using a 500+Mhz HTC Hero, so this phone might be a good upgrade for me. I love SuperAMOLED. As long ad Samsung didn't screw up the lag and GPS again, it's either this or the Xperia Arc for me.
I doubt HTC will announce any really innovative phones. I guess they'll still be using SLCD/TFT.

I have a trackball on my HTC Hero. Hardly use it.

If no lag, consider this my next phone. Once you go SuperAMOLED, it's hard to switch to any other phone.

So far quite impressed with what I see. The SuperAMOLED+ screen and hardware specifications (dual-core, 1GB RAM) are what set it apart from other manufacturers. I doubt we'll see any other manufacturer, even HTC, top this phone.
If it had come with stock Gingerbread, it'd be the best phone hands down.

I think Jason's intention was to illustrate how pointless it is to compare the camera quality of a camera-phone to a real dedicated camera. You wouldn't compare a PC monitor with a smartphone screen either. You could buy a pretty decent laptop, camera or another gadget with RM3K but we're discussing smartphones.

Hopefully the price will be closer to RM2.5K than RM3K when it launches. Even the iPhone 4 (16GB) version is only around RM2.5K. It'd be a hard sell for Samsung if they priced the SGSII even higher.

QUOTE(Matrix @ Feb 14 2011, 11:55 AM) becareful with your statement...some smart aleck will start attacking you and ask whether you can make phone calls on your lappy.... I think a better argument (because laptops can make calls using Skype) would be: Can your laptop fit in your pocket?

QUOTE(hihihehe @ Feb 14 2011, 01:22 PM) what kind of GPU this phone using? comes with gingerbread? The specifications are available here. It comes with Gingerbread, and uses a dual-core 1GHz ARM Cortex-A9 proccessor with 1GB RAM. Edit: Sorry, you asked for GPU. I don't think that's been revealed yet. QUOTE(cloudstrife07 @ Feb 14 2011, 01:50 PM) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « You win. Anyway... anybody else planning to just install LauncherPro if they get the SGSII ? I think most of Samsung's widgets are useless. They're good for showing off but they make the homescreen lag (but not as badly as I've seen on the Arc) so even if I don't install another home launcher, I'll probably get rid of most of them.

QUOTE(haxri @ Feb 14 2011, 05:21 PM) i dont need to use a new phone right away.. i can wait.. but, is it worth it to wait? It's always worth waiting. You save more money, and can afford better phones in the future.

QUOTE(t3chn0m4nc3r @ Feb 14 2011, 05:42 PM) izzit juz me or is tat like a iPhone4 replica...? The shape of it resembles an iPhone 4, but the screen is much bigger than the iPhone 4's. Also 3 buttons instead of just 1.

Don't need to flash a new ROM. Even if the SGS2 TouchWiz launcher sucks, just install LauncherPro. Using it now on my old Hero and it's buttery smooth.

QUOTE(Boomeraangkid @ Feb 15 2011, 12:07 PM) agreed. so how many think 3K is to expensive? I won't buy any phone for RM3K. Even RM2.4K is a lot. I'll either wait for the price to drop or get a cheaper Android.

QUOTE(Boomeraangkid @ Feb 16 2011, 01:50 PM) mmmm the guy on mobile review said the speed of opening stuff is lightning fast yet you guys complain its not smooth. hmmm. Most people are complaining of the home screen lag. But home screen lag is normal because of Android limitations in rendering widgets and lack of hardware acceleration. Everything else should be fast. His overall impression of the phone is good: "I like this phone without any "buts": in technical terms it is the best phone currently on the market. It is in fact the best Android Phone: the fastest, the best screen, the best connectivity – UMTS, HSUPA; Wi-Fi direct, VoIP, voice recognition different from what Google offers. There is no other manufacturer capable of producing anything quite like this level of technology in the near months."

Speaking of iPhone, I wonder what Steve Jobs is going to come up with this year. It's not going to be easy to beat all the dual-core Android phones.

I'm so glad they got rid of the glossy plastic that attracts fingerprints for the back cover and replaced it with rifled plastic.

I don't mind iPhone 4. I think it's a pretty good phone. Fast browser, simple GUI and lots of applications. But I still prefer Android overall because I like USB file transfer and writing my own apps without having to pay RM99 for a provisioning profile.
