Arsene Wenger voted World Coach of the Decade

Arsène Wenger has been named World Coach of the Decade.

The Arsenal manager edged out Sir Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho to take the award handed out by the International Federation of Football History & Statistics.

The organisation conducts an annual Coach of the Year vote. Results from the last 10 polls were aggregated to find an overall winner. Wenger ended up with 156 points, Ferguson 148 and Mourinho 135.

The Frenchman will receive a certificate and golden trophy at the World Football Gala later this year.

It brought many criticisms up from other clubs and opined that in terms of silverwares, AF and JM had much more than AW. As AF won 6PL, 3 league cup, 1 CL, 1 FA and 1 world Then JM had even more with 2 PL, 2 italian league, 2 portugese league, 2 champs league, etc.

So it seems like how good a manager is shouldn't based solely on how many silverwares he brought to the club. But how good a manager manages the club as a whole, improving youth system, give concerns to club's financial status (while most managers in half the world kept on complaining funds are not provided), nurtures players, build a stadium brows.gif ...etc. That makes me wonder...did AW participate in the building of the stadium? he could show off some of his electrical engineering skill. hmm.gif

I think this is a very high acknowledgment to AW as one of the Great Managers around notworthy.gif

Forget about the fans since we all are biased for different reasons and we are all noobs in football management (don't start FM discussion here tongue.gif )

But interestingly (but not unexpected), it doesn't get much media attention unsure.gif

This. Hats off to Wenger as well. I may not agree with him at times but he is truly one of the greats in terms of management.

Thierry Henry training with Arsenal squad

user posted image

QUOTE
Thierry Henry is back at Arsenal.

The Gunners legend returned to London Colney on Monday to train with Arsène Wenger's squad. The short-term arrangement will help Henry maintain his fitness ahead of the new MLS campaign, which begins in March.

Henry joined the New York Red Bulls last year and helped them reach the play-offs where they lost on aggregate to San Jose Earthquakes in November.

The former Arsenal captain scored a record 226 goals during a glittering career in north London and was a member of the 'Invincibles' squad that completed an unbeaten campaign in 2003/04.

how nice if Beckham trains with us as well, and Sol Campbell too. it would be better if Robert Pires still training with us...

It would be much better if all them are playing for Arsenal right now.

Hopefully AW would sign them in Jan

out of those ex-players, who you really think still have what it takes to play for us and why?

i'd take Titi in a heartbeat, but that is solely for sentimental reason i.e. getting him the Carling Cup medal which i now fully expect us to win
