cause nowadays GC to high end and need a massive cooling, so M17x no longer can fit the monster card and need a larger PSU. so they are coming out the 18.4" as thier high end laptop series

1. if u are planning for photoshop thn m11x's screen is definitely not. PS with 11" is a waste of time, you'd have to move your cursor all around just to finish 1 section. unless u have a HDMI cable n plug it into an external monitor

2. avatar is a little picture for yer windows startup pic icon

3. yes u can through the system software
*
+1, photoshop, would be nice ony 1920x1080 screen

what do you mean by "crashes"? it won't load? or it causing your system to hang?

anyhow, what is your sound driver's version?
to be honest, solving the problem is much better instead of reformatting.

at least, you will learn something by solving the preexisting problem. i use my beloved M17x for almost two years and never reformat even once blush.gif
aha what happened bro? buy one lah Area-51 ALX, i gonna list down the Alienware Ownerlist after my examination  thumbup.gif
*
Well, reformatting the laptop is good to ur HDD instead of spoiling it. formatting will reform ur hdd sector, and make it more efficiency, without formatting, the sector of the hdd will slowly become dead sector at last will spoil ur hdd. ^^

Puto: not much different in 32 or 64 bit right? In term if gaming, 32 bit better right?

Added on January 20, 2011, 4:37 pmEdosama: black ops and starcraft 2? He he :-)
*
well, is the same nothing much different, since game wont utilise 4GB nor 3GB. but 64 bit u have the benefit which is ur OS support 4Gb RAM above, if u use 32bit, only 3GB is supported for the OS

Wah you apply by your own? Does it need very precise fingers? Mine are kinda butter fingers!
How much did the thermal paste cost?
If that helps in reducing the temps by so much, I also want!  drool.gif
*
well, in malaysia, out room temp too high d, any thermal paste work equally

my alienware m15x with intel wifi link 5300 is suspected faulty

dropped connection regularly, even tested my router with another netbook and used handphone wireless tethering just beside the laptop same dropping

by drop i mean the connection gets disconnected, sometimes cant even see my AP for a few minutes, and internet is damn slow

its not that weak a signal - 3 bars average - when conected

so installed new drivers, uninstalled - same effect

any experience guys?  before i resort to calling Dell.  You guys think they'll change at my home the wifi card?
*
well, the only solution is, uninstall the wireless driver from the add or remove(control panel), this would solve ur issue

oh, i actually use wireless tethering via htc desire

problem still there guys, already changed channels - still disconnection

i think the isp is not at fault, when it disconnects, my AP(router) is missing from the list sometimes, only after few seconds and refresh it would show up again and reconnect

so since the disconnection happens on both router and phone wifi i suspect it may bew the wifi module in my notebook

already tried that brother, i'll repeat it just in case
*
nono, just uninstall, dont install back the driver, use the default driver from the window 7

many people think that alienware is expensive, but they think though about the different of spec some times, like m17x-R3, Rm7499 well, some other might cost of RM6500 or a bit higher, but mostly out side thier proccessor are Core i7 2630QM, compare to M17x-R3 which have Core i7 2720QM.
besides this, m17x come with intel ultimate 6300 wifi moduler, Onsite service(next bussiness day), good cooling system
