i think i7 2820 also overkill.
why not upgrade the GPU to 6970M?
*
yup
i am considering the following

Dropping 16GB to 4 to 8GB
Dropping 3D (though don't save much)
Processor... i don't think i will go with i7 2720.. will see the overall cost hehe

1st thing, RAM, 4GB is more than enough for a laptop, unless u wan ALT+TAB for few games in the same time

2nd thing, 3D is a bull shit, some how laptop performance is too low for 3D gaming, even my GTX580, gaming on 3D, Lost planet 2 with everything max only gets around 30 - 40FPS, if not to many thing on the screen u might get most of 50FPS only. 3D is nothing special. If u wanna show off among ur friend, then 3D is ur choice, if u really wanna game, 3D is not ur choice.

3RD processor, within Core i7 2720, vs Core i7 2820, is just 15% or less than it, this is intel marketing stratergy. like Core i7 740QM vs Core i7 720QM(whats the point, pls tell me)

4TH GTX460M is too slow for 3D, in additional GTX460 performance cant match with 6970M(On paper). PhysX is a bull shit thing as well, but if u really concern about the benchmarking, then go ahead of Nvidia.

5TH warranty u might need or might not need, i dont know. like me, warranty is useless for me, since a laptop never follow me over 3 month, so probably i wont invest in warranty, who knows few more month ivy bridge coming out. sandy bridge draw too much time d, almost Q2 2011 d....

Below is my spec
Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64bit (English)
Intel® Core™ i7-2720QM Processor (2.2GHz, 1600 MHz DDR3, 6M cache)
17.3" Full HD (1920x1080) WLED LCD Panel
6GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM (1 x 2GB + 1 x 4GB)
750GB 7200RPM Hard Drive
8X DVD + /-RW Drive with DVD + R double layer write capability
2GB GDDR5 AMD Radeon™ HD 6970M

thanks for the info ^^

Dell lab updated that M18X would be targetting a plausible May release...

really?

their alienware is so affordable... compared to malaysia lol
*
Please compare the specs before judging -__-
Alienware M17X R3 in US is i7 2620M... Malaysia is i7 2720M... and the list goes on sleep.gif

Differences should be less than 1k

There are people in the forum who can provide you affordable price for M17X R3

M17X R3 is 17.3" Full HD (1920x1080) WLED LCD Panel for non-3D

I wonder will this lose out more on the TrueLife Full HD....

Save your money. There is no point for u to get a 1600mhz ram for your m17x. Your mobo limits the memory clock speed to 1333mhz. Only pure x58 n p67 boards allow u to do that as the BIOS does not restrict it. Therefore there is no use if u have a 1600mhz ram.
The reason crysis 2 is running good on most PC is because its default running on dx9. Also, Ive compared the settings between advance n hardcore and I found out there is no difference at all. Your 280m is at 50fps, therefore my dual 480s shod be 100 over, right? Its sad to say its not. Mine was the same as yours. The had been poorly ported to the PC three is why most 2-1 yo PC could run smoothly. Hopefully they fix this soon with the patch they promised after the release.

Hm..
i thought it does support 1600mhz cause i noticed many people using it
oh well
save money smile.gif
