Firmware if i wasn't wrong only exist in Samsung's phone, other android don't use this term.

Rom is a more general term for all android, custom rom means is a rom that was customized by a developer.
These custom roms are based on official or leaked source, means they didn't build from scratch.

Yes your firmware version will be XXJPY 2.2.1, but darkyy wrote it as "2.3.1", but actually is 2.2.1

Before this, after you got speedmod, go to recovery, then select choose from zip, then select darkky's rom

once you got into recovery, is your darkky wipe version in your INTERNAL SD?

if yes, then select choose zip from SD, then select your darkky's rom

Try "No,enter recovery mode",
then go to advanced Speedmod ULK features
The LAGFIX options

Type out what's written bellow, should be something like this

Current Configuration is:
bla bla bla....

Then choose Enable lagfix Convert Data to Ext4
After you select that, go back out then press reboot system.

Then it will pop back up the same menu, then choose

"Yes, with backup and restore"

3D menu is the gingerbread launcher, i think it should come pre-install.

Now you're using touchwiz right? Go to settings -> application -> manage application -> find touchwiz then clear default

Then press Home, then it will give you few launcher as options. Choose the one named "Launcher"

That's a bug of 8.1 i head, either use v8 or wait for 8.2

darn... samfirmware.com provided firmwares are not trusted... last time b4 i trade in my 1st SGS, i flashed JPA using their firmware and had problem, seems that its corrupted, this time i use the JPE firmware from them and still the same thing...
