Yes exactly, because default kernel is voodoo and default animation is darky animation

If you flash it on top of older darkky rom then the rom will be no wipe unless you select wipe option in the configuraton

I never use mms so i can't give you any advise, but which sms app you use? Maybe you can try different app such as handcent or go sms and see does it solve your problem

You can manually copy the animation folder from 9 to 9.0.2

is inside framework-res.apk, copy the folder named "anim"
