Is your phone stuck at 'obtaining IP address'?

'connected' should be alright, I think. The last time I experienced my phone stuck at 'obtaining IP address' was many months back. Had to factory reset.

I use NoLED to show me when I have missed calls, incoming messages (sms, gtalk, whatsapp etc) and new email. Free and simple.

Patience is the keyword. No problems installing 9.0.2 for me - just did it at 8am and my phone is back up and running nicely. Nothing lost, as far as I can see..

I just sent an MMS to my friend using her SGS on Celcom postpaid. No problems receiving an MMS from me (Digi Postpaid user). She could also MMS me back without issues.

She has 2 APNs set up. Celcom3G for internet access but set to 'internet+mms' ANS CelcomMMS for 'mms' where the MMS proxy is set up. Authentication is set to NONE for both.

Not sure about batt drain, so far Darky's ROMs have been better than stock for me. 9.0.2 feels slightly quicker than 8.1.

Nope. I didn't wipe because I was coming from Darky 8.1. Market app is there and works just fine.

Anyway, it's no trouble to download vending apk and installing it if market is indeed missing..

Yes to your first question. For second question, nothing much you missed, but I think you will need to enable the speedmod kernel tweaks again after Darky 9.0.2 installation (assuming you chose Speedmod in the configurator app). That's what worked for me.

Me.

1) I like speedmod because of the kernel tweaks. For info on differences, please consider reading the Voodoo and Speedmod threads in xda-developers forum.

2) Not using this MapAPp, so I can't say.

3) No weird battery drains that I can notice.

You try and see. I only use GPS in Foursquare so <100m accuracy is not that critical for me.

If you wanna connect the phone in debugging mode to PC, you will need to install the phone drivers, I think. You can find the drivers for SGS on softpedia.com for both Win32 and Win64. Have you tried disabling USB Debugging and connecting the phone as mass storage - I don't believe you need additional drivers for this mode.

P/S I have never installed or used Kies before hence why I used the driver pack from softpedia.com

Guys, I've finally moved out of the dark side. Testing the Magical ROM Kitchen result (based on JS3 firmware) from Doc and Stefunel now. Not bad, most of the Samsung bloatware can be unselected during the ROM baking process. I like..

Darky is pretty good, but with 9.x, I have this feeling that's it has become a bit bloated. It's not a slow ROM by any means, but I like my things lean and mean. Was considering Insanity ROM because it seemed like the leanest one this side of CyanogenMod but I was intrigued by Doc's online kitchen too.

With the kitchen ROM at only 148MB and with most of the Samsung shite not included, I am a happy man. Doc's ROM doesn't feel any faster than Darky's, IMHO, but I am hoping for a lower battery drain since most of the inbuilt stuff is no longer there.

Also, I wanted to go up to JS3 firmware but Darky's only at JPY till now..

Have not really been playing with the different modems so I can't answer your question. I am a sucker for the letter/number sequence - in my deluded mind, JPY feels like a higher rev than JP3, just like how JS3 is higher than JPY ha ha..
