hey guys... I'm having some problems here...

I cooked a rom using Doc's XXJPY with XEU CSC, JPX modem, and also hardcore speedmod kernel....

i tried installing papago on it and it vibrates a few times during installation and my phone reboots... anybody having the same problem??
*
I notice that this is ur 2nd cooked ROM from DOC, u cooked one y'day with supercurio. Did u install it, if u did, this is what u need to do now.

Before installing the new cooked ROM, u need to:
1) factory reset + wipe cache + dalwik wipe then
2) install ur new ROM
3) factory reset again.

This is something to due with the 666 kernel

Some plp experience this in DOC thread, by doing this step, problem solved

I cooked v8.1.1 and installed, did not encounter what u and jujx have as i always use speedmod.

TO Holypredator:

Before even trying to flash, PLS MAKE SURE ur 3 BUTTONS is function ie.

when u pressed Vol up + power + Home --- > Recovery Mode

when u pressed Vol Down + power + Home ---- > Download mode

If u dun have this, dun attempt to flash, else u will come back with lotsa problems.

Eh btw.... is it easy to unroot the phone and make everything back to the official status/.??
Scare if phone something wrong need to sent back but later they void my warranty...
*
When u have 3 buttons working, it is easy to do anything u want.

If u wanna unroot, just reflash it, then it will be unrooted device.

Dude, if u managed to flash with speedmod, u are already in CWM, ie the green wording in recovery mode. Therefore u do not need the update.zip

ha....thanks for pointing out...i got into CWM mode now...so means i can install darky's rom from there rite?by applying the update.zip file onto my SDCard...??
*
Installing Darky by applying update.zip???

I tot if it is Darky, it is something like darky v8.0.zip that u stored in ur sdcard.

update.zip is for u to get into CWM from the 2e recovery, ie after u flash with CF-root from a stock froyo (3e) to gain 2e.

OIC...so for Darky's Rom we noneed to change the fine name to update??just go to select tht file and install tht's it??

Added on January 20, 2011, 5:26 pmbro...im on XXJPP baseband now...do you think I need to update to XXJPY before i flash Darky's Rom??
*
If u are flashing from Darky wipe version, it is regardless which baseband u coming from.

ok, in CWM:

If a file come with welcome.zip u can do either way:
1) change it name to update.zip, then at the recovery, apply update.zip
2) if u dun want to change the name, u jz choose install from zip

i was wondering what is the different with "backup data" and "backup all" selection in CWM??or is there any other better backup software i can use??

Thanks thanks....
*
Data : mean all ur apk (apps) and it datas

backup all : mean data plus system files, ie those setting...

I used mybackup pro to backup apk and datas, not system. As i experienced before that when i restore the system as well, the old firmwares system clash with the new firmwares. Since then, whenever i change a new ROM, i will manually set up the system again, ie sound, sms setting, web setting, apn.

what would happen if i enabled lagfix and i had problems booting and i need to flash the phone again without disabling the lagfix...

Dunno whats wrong with the phone haiz.... T_T

mayb i should just revert to stock, root and use speedmod enough
*
Well, there is always alternative to prevent this sort of thing happen, what i mean if u happen to do factory reset. Here the basic u need to understand. when u unrar the ROM.zip u will see few folder:
1) Data
2) META-INF
3) scripts
4) system
5) update

Within all this folder carried certain important apps or files. Those crucial apps will be stored within system>apps. Other app will be stored under data>apps. This purpose if to prevent user accidentally deleted all the important apps during factory reset.

So when u do factory reset, it mean it will wipe the data folders, however those app stored within system>app will remain.

With this, if u want to remain all ur apps, u could do some modification on the ROM.zip prior to install. What i did last time, i moved(via 7zip) those i so called important apps in data>app to system>app hence whenever i do factory reset, i still have it. Ever since i started backup my datas, i no longer do this anymore, as after factory reset, all i needed to do is restore all the apps. hence all the apk+data will go back to data>app

I even customised the kernel prior to flash last time, as DOC ROM have not got the kitchen last time.

again.. thanks sifus... ^^ i did so becoz previously i replaced the speedmod kernel directly over another kernel and i had problems installing apps...
their advice?
Factory rest > Flash > factory reset > reboot
*
hello... that step only apply to if ur previous ROM come with transig kernel 666 as it is using CWM 3 which give problem. Other kernel dun need to factory twice, ie pre and post installation. Other kernel, u jz need to factory reset prior, but if u are installing those wipe version, dun bother doing factory reset prior, as the word WIPE.

Dun use it tongue.gif

But if u quit after using it, the sensor should be off.
Cos i always exist after using google maps, and did not notice the sensor continue running
