Hi all sifu,
I need some guideline to install the speedmod-kernel-k12q-500hz from hardcore. Now I on the stock latest firmware which is Build number FROYO.DXJPE. My phone is stock with 3 combo button work without root. Shall I follow the procedure below?
1.
http://touristinparadise.blogspot.com/2010...to-install.html2. Shall I root my phone before follow step 1. Any recommendation? I just try update.zip method but not working.
3. What else should I beware of?
Hope you all could give me some guideline, this is my first smart phone. My last was SE K750i. I have this SGS since last year July. Can not tahan it laggy anymore. Want to unleash the potential of it. Thanks in advance.
1. Yes, you can follow the guide.
2. No need, even tough you flash Speedmod. The root function will not activated unless you enable it in the recovery menu. Update.zip will not work in Recovery 3e (DXJPA and DXJPE), u need odin for this. Unless you have DXJG4. After flashing the custom kernel, you will get the recovery 2e.
Ok. I will start this project now. Let see any problem later.

3e is pretty useless. Guide to use Odin is at the first post.. Maybe you want to consider getting a JIG as insurance. Happy flashing..
Just follow the url provided, I use this method before. Odin is very picky on COM port in your pc. If Odin detected more than one COM port, then you need to disable others. For example, if you have 3G broadband connection using USB modem, Odin will detect this COM port as well and it will start confuse to which COM port it need to do the flashing.

Happened to me also.
