What's the good batch to go for? I think most of them in Malaysia are lousy and generally 4.6-4.8 is the max most CPU could do? I could boot 5Ghz but it gets stuck before moving into Windows. I got tired of testing so I moved back to 4.6 sad.gif
*
lol... but anyhow upgrade to sandy bridge already save us electric bills + less heat compare to broomfield. laugh.gif

i reach cooling limits on my hot room with 4.8ghz. 80++ celcius. laugh.gif

4.9GHz below 1.4v vcore during load is a good proc.
Just that it seems to produce a lot of heat.

There are two types of chips in general:
1) low vcore, but high temp (hot)
2) high vcore, but low temp (cooler)

Ive noticed these since Bloomfield.
*
original review says stock cooler can OC to 4.5ghz, I guess after Win7 SP1 + latest Linpack, its impossible anymore.

I downgrade my cooling when go sandy bridge, now pawned laugh.gif

win 7 sp1 got some bug which causes random bsod, doesnt relate to OC, anyone know the patch already.

I now try to reinstall my sata controller driver for intel, hopefully it stable it. the 0x000000F4 error which i was randomly getting even with stock. laugh.gif

actually i using GT stealth 240 can pawn my currently using hyper212+ with 10c++ on load, especially LinX with SP1.

idle temp is not important, but my 240gts setup does edge out around 2c on idle.

*hint, make sure ur radiator are taking fresh air instead of warm air inside the case. icon_rolleyes.gif

Yes, mine pawn 212+ too but idle temp around the same. My rad installed inner top of the chassis leh, no reason I change top 2 exhaust fans to intake?

owikh, what's ur voltage for 5.0 GHz with HT off? I'm on 1.455V and feel not really enough lol.
*
lol, when ur rad takes fresh air, results will be even better ... !!! laugh.gif it will give u another 3-5c. icon_rolleyes.gif

*
no need re-route ur tubings, just flip the fan around, make them as intake. laugh.gif but make sure u got the back fan as exhaust.

Wa, then my chassis full of dust lo later?

Like that I tried day ago, it's better than current but I worry the dust lol. blush.gif
*
lol, just buy a cyberclean and clean ur radiator, other place wont get dust so serious other than rad.

actually positive air flow with proper filter placed on key location is less dust compare to negative air flow. icon_rolleyes.gif

That's not bad but my Hyper 212+ with 2 x F12 push/pull is no where near 80C when I was doing 4.8Ghz with my previous i5 chip smile.gif
*
my 2500k might be hotter, hyper212+ with f12 push/pull... easily exceed 80c on 4.5ghz with LinX AVX @ win7 sp1.

my previous setup, stacking two 120mm radiator actually lower the temp by 10c +/- 3c compare to Hyper212+.

and my proc got some issue with core temp, core 3 always higer thn other core by 5c. and i take the highest core temp.
