more sound like placebo. how long u been riding?

if less then 6 month intensively, then u cant really tell dif between alivio n xt, especially your alivio is not even worn yet. the weight will give u slight better ride only.

if you havent reach the minimum fitness lvl, there is no significant dif riding a 14kg and 12kg bike especially if you cant ride at least 15km per session with no rest off road.

the further u can ride per session; the more significant the weight factor will come in. we are talking at least >15km (typically is 25km to 45km in race) with no rest/pitstop off road.

most of time, rider is tired not because 'weight AND the groupset's performance' but because rider have not reach the minimum fitness lvl yet.

but since u have rm2k to burn, if i were you, i would go for these (#1 is best combo):-

1. better wheelset + spd + spd shoes
2. RS reba or fox fork ( a good choice will be 2009 fox + spd +spd shoes)
3. 10spd xt (these is purely ww n bling factor but u will not find significant dif in your ride since u cant take drop to utilize the brake or climb/accelerate to utilise the gearset and ww).

Hello guys, because of my budget, i've taken up some time to build up my ride here. Over the past year to be exact. Recycle as much as i can, buy loads of 2nd hand items and walah, i have a decent bike already. Now i dun even dare to calculate how much is the total. 

Anyways, i'm a beginner. Any of you ride around FRIM areas or on other milder tracks that won't give me a heart attack? I'm based in Setapak/Selayang. Here's a photo of my bike. A few things that i bought when i was a noob, and its on my bike now. First things first are better brakes, and better tires, and not to mention get those dammed leg eaters replaced.
