SILENCE by Martin Scorsese



Definitely one of Martin's best work, and definitely his best since The Departed.

Silence might not have the fast blaze editing style that is prominent in most of his gangster films, but the slow, harrowing depiction of the christian missionaries as well as the local japs in the film definitely suck the soul out of you (in a good way lol).

However, due to the slow pacing and the subject/topic of the movie (religious theme), this movie is definitely NOT for everyone.

Also, this film does not use any music score, which is a nice touch.

Dare I say, this is my personal fav film of 2016, beating out my previous fav La La Land.

My tiny gripe is with the inconsistent use of accents by the actors in the film, especially by the lead actor Andrew Garfield. He has an accent at one point, but suddenly sounded like a modern american in the next scene, which is a bummer because apart from that, his overall acting is pretty good, better than in Hacksaw Ridge in which he was nominated for.

Overall, i would give this a 9.5/10

The LEGO Batman Movie (2017)

Gosh, why does DC not let the people in charge if the DC related Lego movies or the animated movie, to work on their live action and all would be right!!

This is a VERY enjoyable movie

The reference to ALL the previous Batman movies is mind-boggling!!

You won't understand how much I need this movie today

Really glad Moonlight walk away with Best Picture and Mahershala Ali Best Supporting Actor. La La Land didn't dominate as predicted and I won a case of Hoegaarden from a bet I made with my client.  
Hackshaw Ridge also clinched 2 technical awards meaning Mel Gibson is back in a big way.

Logan 9/10, Thank you Hugh Jackman for all these  year as Wolverine its sad to see

Hacksaw Ridge 8/10, last 45 minute of the movie its so intense!!

Moonlight 8/10  it is good!

Logan (2017)

Finally, they got a Wolverine movie right.

There has always been a certain level of "bleakness" in the X-Men franchise (be it comic book or movies) and in terms of bleak, this movie takes the cake. The bleakness is palpable.

And yet the ending... All I can say is thank goodness for Canada!!

I think both Patrick Steward and Hugh Jackman had gone of the record that they are done with their respective X Characters and boy is this the crowning jewel to cap the character off!! (Er... no pun intended).

They got the story right.

The got the tone right.

The actors brought their A game

It must have been a bitter sweet experience for Hugh, since Wolverine brought him international fame!!

The kids are also great in this.

If you have not watched this, ask yourself this, why not??

Beauty and the Beast is banned in Malaysia. Flock my kiddies, flock to your nearest cinema and watch this (before they ban this here!! Why? In their opinion, Wolverine got TOO CLOSED to Professor X... ).

It is DEFINITELY worth your dime.

If this movie is any indication, Disney is going to have another monster year!!

Paramount, learn from the master of animation to live action.

This is an excellent movie.

Does it pay homage to the animation?

Yes t does.

Does it has more to say compared to the animation?

Yes it does.

Extraordinary Mission <非凡任务> 7/10
From the director and writer of Infernal Affairs & Overheard what are you waiting for.... Movie wasted no time to tell it's story frame by frame very compelling to watch and movie has a lot of action too. Good performance all around and heck I didn't know all these China actor/actress at all. 

I missed from installment 4 to 7....surprisingly the ff8 was ok...

Shockwave - starting Andy Lau (Hong Kong movie )- 9/10, so good! so emotional! and so action packed!
