A Quiet Place (2018) - very good, new taste, highly entertaining. no sleep at all....      .. one more thing.. when the movie started, i thought i watch Sicario...because the beginning of the movie score looked like Sicario score....

I notice this movie, whilst compiling my annual horror movie viewing list.

The premise, sounds promising, and have to be honest, expectation was NOT high.

I am please to eat my low expectation, and proclaim here, THIS IS A GREAT HORROR MOVIE!

Director/Main Male Lead John Krasinski and Main Female Lead Emily Blunt are actually husband and wife.

I know, I know, they are asking for trouble to appear in the same movie together.

Think Cleopatra (1963)...

Think Eyes Wide Shut (1999) (Ironically, forever associated with Stanley Kubrick's last work...)

Both highly publicize lemon it's day

Can John and Emily avoid this... stigma?

Yes, yes they can!!

John, and I am hypothesizing here, learnt from past masters of suspense (Alfred?) and really, really put the pressure on his audience, keeping them at the edge of their seats. No gimmick, no fancy CGI (well, some, but not overwhelming so), and gave us an honest, thrilling, suspenseful, horror movie.

At some point in the movie, I actually ask myself, why am I taking all this sensory abuse from the movie. Am I some kind of masochist?

I surprise myself with the answer, yes, yes I am!!!

This is a fantastic horror movie.

Good script, good delivery (acting, directing the works)

Surprise that Paramount has made this, and I cannot remember a good horror by paramount, until I google it (Sleepy Hollow is more dark comedy to me, Paranormal Activity, I will give them that etc etc...)

This one is one to remember.

I humbly submit to you, a bloody good horror movie.

Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

Well....

Marvel pulled no punches!!

The movie starts with guns ablazing (metaphorically speaking) and really does not let up until the very end.

Because of the comic, I kinda guess the ending and also how the second movie ends, but as I had stated Marvel does not shy from... doing what needs doing!!!

People here would probably know how much I.... dislike Thor Ragnarok.

This movie really redeems that character for me in the Marcel Universal (Though truth to be told I still miss Mjornir).

This is a heavy HEAVY movie, and there maybe a stumbling block for Marvel.

I am really not sure how Spider-man Homecoming 2 is going to happen!!? (Does it take place before of after this movie??)

With it, not pulling it's punches, does that mean Fan of the movie... would be turned off?

Only the final block office will tell.

It is NOT perfect, and have to add, it is still pretty well made

Avengers: Infinity War (2018) - very very good ah, above my expectation. standby tissue if you want.....        

After watching Atomic Blonde think it's fair to say Chad Stahelski is the better director than David Leitch. Leitch just another director for hire that just does passable effort but not trailblazing type of film directing. Not that he is lacking effort just not enough substance or the Chinese saying "not enough minerals".

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018)

Watched this at IMAX 1Utama, and am glad to report, the Audion/Visual system there is still great!

I really want to like this.

The budget is there, the visual is there the sound is there.

First Act and Second Act are entertaining (not without flaws though)


They got rid of the two kids in the first movie, and the story starts with going back to the island to rescue... wait, did they not do THAT in Jurassic Park 2 already...

Oh, no no wait it is not like Jurassic Park 2. TO begin with this is Jurassic World 2.... really THAT'S the best comeback they have?

The script could have been much better.

I kinda remember the scripts of movies I had watch before, so, for me the movie had a shaky script to begin with

And most of the get out of difficult situation sequences.... had been done before...

Although the third act was really flawed (That is how they choose to end the movie?? Really??) the point they made is actually the gist that Michael Crichton tried to get acrossed in his first novel, should we go down the slippery slope of genetic study?

It is an entertaining movie.

Just seems a little repetitive in some places.

But what do I know, I enjoyed Solo and it is tanking at the box office!!

Unsane - Incoherent mess.
So Steven Solderberg shot a movie on iPhone but sadly the movie not very good. Psychology thriller of whether Claire Foy actually insane or not as she was trapped in a psychiatric hospital. I don't mind they wanted to tackle the mental health topic but it went boinkers with B-movie territory on the second half. Also the amateur film student aesthetic quite difficult to appreciate. The only saving grace the Queen trying her hardest to keep the movie together with her performance.

An A-list alumni of Solderberg also made a cameo that nobody sees coming which was highly unusual or he is nearing the end of career chapter...lol..

Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018)

It has been suggested to me that I can be over- enthusiastic or overly-kind with my reviews or movies.

Believe it or not, I have been "dialing" down my enthusiasm, in my the reviews I write.

Having said that, I categorically label this my No. 1 movie of 2018.

I seriously cannot think of what possible movie, that is going to be release in the near future, that can knock this movie off this pedestal.

This is the sixth outing for this franchise, that seem to go from strength to strength (one can argue that the second outing is the worst out of all six).

There were attempts for younger and hungrier actors to take over the mantel (main male lead, Jeremy Renner) of this movie.

At 56, Tom Cruise seems.... unstoppable.

This movie is shot mainly practical. And I have to add, seeing what was presented on screen, the task is Herculean, figuratively and literally.

I cannot even begin to imagine how it was done, and the Cinematography Rob Hardy is as much an adrenaline junkie as Tom Cruise himself.

This fast paced movie starts strong, and never NEVER lets up.

The action sequence, oh my goodness, the next James Bond has it's work cut for it, if it wants to up the ante... And seriously, I cannot see how they can manage that...

People who reads my mad ravings here, may know that I am really NOT a fan of Henry Cavill, and have to add, I ABSOLUTELY love him here.
I do have one tiny peeve about this movie...
Do yourself a favour.

Watch this movie.

Europe Raiders (2018)

Storyline:
Two bounty hunters are both friends and rivals. One day, a simple contest between the two turns into an all-out manhunt when a little box capable of immense destruction, called the "Hand of God", draws out not only the CIA and Europol special agents but also the European mafia.

My Take:
The plot is good and got good storylines delivered. We will feel sympathy for the main characters, an Asian Mission Impossible. Supporting characters are ok.

Anything related to Tokyo Raiders (2000), and Seoul Raiders (2005)?

Nvrmind, Europe Raiders is the 3rd in the 'series' ... same director, Jingle Ma.

Malèna (2000)

Great old movie, about a boy just reach puberty discovering a very hot lady.
Straight fall in love to her, fapping, peeping & all unmature things a boy will do to his idol.

The sweat between the boobs... damn... lucky kids. His dad should won the father of the year award. Monica Bellucci in her prime.

The Predator (2018)

Battle in Space, chance encounter and Men In Black.... and that is in the first 10 minutes of the movie!!

This latest reboot.... brings back some of the magic of the original Predator movies.

Alot of the previous Predator iterations, did not really work, because it does not expend our knowledge of The Predators.

This movie touches on that. Expanding our understanding of the Predator somewhat.

The first act, stellar.

The second act, fumbled somewhere in the middle

The third act, recovered somewhat and have to add, still overshadowed by the stellar first act.

The last beat of the movie... was a little off, still overall, I did enjoy the movie.
