Hello everybody,

First of all, thanks for viewing.I'm in the midst of opening a chicken rice shop in Klang valley and I'm a Chinese. My shop will sell hainan chicken rice and some side dishes.Actually our menu is pork free but I know it's not consider as Halal until we get the certification.

I checked with halal.gov.my website for information but not much are useful. One of the information I got is that I must have at least 2 Muslim workers in the kitchen as one of the rules and regulation.

So here I'm looking for more information and hopefully someone with experience in this can share more detailed information.

Many thanks in advance.Cheers!

Dear Ryan,

I applaud yr effort in getting Halal certificate. FYI, Halal is not just about pork-free as it touches into a very wide area of cleanliness, non-alcoholic serving, proper slaughtering and so on.

As a first step, you might want to visit Jakim website to get more insight on how to obtain the certificate. Here's an excerpt taken from their FAQ. Hope its help. wink.gif

BAGAIMANAKAH PROSES PERMOHONAN SIJIL PENGESAHAN HALAL?

Ya I just checked the website but most of the feedback I got is it will be a tough job if I were to do it on my own since I'm non-muslim.So I think I will find a few consultants and see what are their advices and what they can do for me.Thanks a lot bro!

just to correct you TS, yout topic title should be "..restaurant is owned by Non-muslim" not 'non-Malay'..

Islam is not the exclusive right of Malay..only the idiots malay in malaysia thinks so..

it is good actually for you to get the halal certificate..for your info, the status of halal food and it's requirments is sort of an I.S.O for our food..just make sure that the foods and ingredients are halal and toiyib (good and healthy)..

To TS, nice effort bro. At least, we muslim (not just malay biggrin.gif) can happily eat at your shop after you get the halal cert. And hope you can provide a nice and clean food for us. Good luck! smile.gif
