It was tought deciding between this and the S95. Price diff is RM240. S95 was really compact -- too compact even. I found it hard to hold. Also S95 felt more plasticky and the shutter click was less pleasant.

But really, I bought the XZ-1 this morning because of the lens. The best in it's class. Less purple fringing and better resolution in RAW than anyone else.

Bought it for RM1.6k cash at Fotokem.

An indication of the bokeh of the lens. Zoomed to the max, widest aperture, very low light:

Nikon's answer to the S95, LX5 and XZ-1:

I find the S95 to be a very inspired design that breaks from the usual digicam design. So minimalistic, totally lacking in pointless decorations and consumerist bling, pared down and eminently pocketable.

Nonetheless I went for the XZ-1.

The mode dial on the xz-1 is too easy to accidentally turn.

Bought and attached the Franiec grip. Totally changes the grippability of the camera for the better. Doesn't look bad either.
