hey guys, I was considering s100 originally, but after I read about sz-1, now I am swaying towards sz1, went to Digital Mall PJ just now to check the price, surprised to find out that the price is actually lower than s100.

Want to ask regarding the silver/platinum color special edition. I was quoted 1180 by a shop there, for the normal one, and he told me the silver one with automatic lens cover is around 1400, pretty much to pay for the lens cover eh? Is it easy to get the lens cover on its own? I don't really like the silver color anyway.

It's XZ-1.. not much difference between the cameras but here's something that S100 cannot do for sure.

Portrait background separation  tongue.gif
Sorry I am a bit noob in photography, I thought the blurry background shot can also be done using S100 with the right aperture settings, no?

The only thing that is holding me back now, is the complains I read on forums, that some people have regarding the aggressive noise filtering causing issues when taking jpg pictures. Do you guys have any experience to share about it? Or you guys just take RAW?

Much2 cheaper in ebay, what's the diff?
I would only trust the original in this case. The motors will wear out if it face too many obstructions when pushing the lens cover, I guess Olympus made a lot of tests to make sure it doesn't wear out the motors with their own cap, but other brands... not sure...

Hi kiwlm, how much did you bought it? and from which shop in digital mall?
*
I bought the silver one (including the lens cap) for 1380, includes the leather pouch, 8GB, and also a china made cleaning kit with the blower, and brush.

The black/white version are going for around 1150 to 1200 around digital mall, but some shop they don't include the leather pouch.

The shop that I got it from is in the ground floor, when you enter into digital mall, you walk until the end, and its the shop facing you which is at the right most. They display a lot of lens and cameras on the left hand shelves.

Are you aware that there's a promotion for some olympus cameras, including xz-1, which ends today! from 11th until 20th, it includes free one more year of extended warranty and a lucky draw with the prize of paying back what you paid for the camera.

I was trying out the different shutter speed and ISO in low light, realised that the color varies approaching the higher ISO, is this normal?

Yeah of course... every camera from point and shoots to dslr's also does that... just at different levels niah.

Ooo, thanks!

This test, I was trying to balance the camera shake (see how low shutter speed I can go) and also the noise in the high iso. Would like to get you guy's opinion on which picture among the wide that you guys like the best?

For me, the wide one, I can't seem to detect any motion blur, on the iso 100 picture, even though it is at 1/10 sec.

For the zoom one, its hard to choose between the iso 400 and iso 800, iso 800 seems to have less motion blur but the color is worse.

Did you guys came across any issue where the camera taken 2 shots although he just clicked once on the shutter button? Or any setting that could possibly be configured wrongly?
*
Maybe burst mode is configured? During burst mode the camera will take pictures continuously when the button is down.
