2015 AFC Asian Cup: Bad news for Saudi Arabia

AFC will most likely use the 2011 AFC Asian Cup performance to seed the teams for both the preliminary competition and the final tournament of the 2015 edition.

Outside the top 8 (quarter finalists), the standings are already known.

Most likely the top 3 in the 2011 AFC Asian Cup will be automatically qualified for the 2015 edition.

If Australia finish in the top 3 and the 4th placed team gets a bye from AFC to the final tournament, or Australia don't finish in the top 3, the qualifying setup will be the same as for Qatar 2011. Assuming the same teams and Korea DPR participate in the preliminaries, here's how things will look like:

First round
Pot 1: Lebanon, Hong Kong
Pot 2: Malaysia, Maldives

Group stage
Pot 1: China PR + worst of the top 8
Pot 2: Bahrain, Syria, Korea DPR, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait
Pot 3: Saudi Arabia, India, Oman, Yemen, Thailand
Pot 4: Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia + both winners of first round

Saudi Arabia in the third pot. If Korea DPR don't enter the preliminary competition (as they did this time), Saudi Arabia will climb to the second pot.

Note:
-For teams 17-26, their seedings are based on their performance in AFC Asian Cup 2011 qualification
-Teams 23-26 are the 4 worst performers in AFC Asian Cup 2011 qualification

Japan deserved this win. Korea walked out from this tournament with their head helds up high. Entered the second round of WC 2010 and semifinal of Asian Cup 2011 with young squad. i expect them to be champions in the next Asian Cup

i hope Uzbekistan will launch a comeback after 2 goals down. i dont want Australia to win Asian Cup!

i ever wondered what it feels like as an australian to win ASIAN cup? pyro, can u ask them?

after japan scored their 2nd goal, i saw on tv a korean amoi macam cursing at the referee. damn shocked mang!

both korea and japan dont deserve their respective penalty. the ref made a mistake on awarding penalty for korea. maybe he awarded a generous penalty to japan just to cover up his mistake and be fair to japan

and snatch a point at least. score as many goals as possible and give us something to cheer about even though we get trashed

before 2015 Asian Cup, there will be 2 ASEAN champions (2012 & 2014). which one of them should represent ASEAN? maybe, AFC should held a two-leg playoff between these 2 teams.

plus, 2014 AFF Suzuki Cup will end at the end of December 2014 and 2015 Asian Cup will start early of January 2015 .
no time for the playoff . even if they held it, im sure the winner very tired unless AFC agree to held 2015 Asian Cup during July

AFC dont allow regional champions to qualify automatically for Asian Cup. let it be East Asia or West Asia

in ASEAN, Thailand qualified 4 times (excluding 1976 which they withdrew after qualified) and Indonesia qualified 3 times for Asian Cup
ON MERIT. if they can do it, why not us?
