try higher. try 1/8000. at first i tried it had once or twice stuck. then i remount the lens, still once or twice. then i mange to really burst kaw kaw at 6fps with no problem for a while....then after that, now it's frequently like that. even for single shot or continuous low at 3fps.

see this - http://nikonrumors.com/forum/topic.php?id=3044

try pointing at something bright and see whether it open and closes in time.
*
that one is not bursting at 1/8000, just single shots.
u said urs happens at 1/800 bursts.

Imo 50mm is like caught in no mans land with dx, not wide and not long enough...the 35mm is ok but of cos still not that wide, but better for general shots.
only other lens i got is 70-300vr...and i feel the tamron 17-50 may do just fine...unless i go buy 85mm tongue.gif

when taking group pic, best if u can burst few shots like 2 or 3. increases your chances of avoiding sleeping folks
*
or get everyone to close their eyes, then u do usual count from 1 to 3.
but at 2, everyone open their eyes...then u got 1 count where very high chances are no one will blink etc...so all eyes open.

Yeah, was helping out a friend to photograph the band for an online magazine.
Aww, sadly I couldn't go this year. I'm in KL nw, planning to catch Deftones instead smile.gif
Usually in huge gigs, the security doesnt allow people to bring DSLR unless they have a photo pass.
*
actually huge gigs in KL the security wont let.
but in SG, no prob...
i went to Slash in SG and KL...SG i saw whole load of DSLRs around...
KL one they confisticated them all and gave the owners numbered tags to reclaim them after the show.

went Slayer in SG also got quite a few there...i just dont want to bring DSLR cos its heavy and if get caught in the pit will die tongue.gif

that prob is actually called backlight bleeding, pretty common on certain PC LCDs...
the only way to really fix it is to replace the whole LCD...tho for certain PC ones the prob is unavoidable due to cheapness etc.
so i wouldnt worry too much about it since as u said u googled and didnt find anyone else with the prob...perhaps they dont really mind.

Thanks... Will wait for your replies. If all ok maybe I'll have to check with the shop again. Anyone tried claiming warranty direct from Nikon? I have a feeling the boss would argue saying all his units are the same...

Added on January 10, 2011, 6:01 pm
Well mine is a lil obvious and though it doesn't affect the picture, I feel that if there are good units available, I would prefer to have a good unit too. I may be petty and I know I'm demanding too much for a lower end model.  sweat.gif Truthfully I don't mind if all units comes with this defect. But if only a selected few has defects and mine is 1 of them, then maybe I'd request for warranty ler...
*
yea, if only urs and a few select are faulty, then its obvious that its not a general lcd 'feature'.
tho testing with all the seller's units could just mean a bad batch and not in general.
guess should just wait and see if any other d3100 owners appear with the same prob.

Since I'm going KL tomorrow, might as well bring direct to timesquare and check with their unit there. Let them see direct also. See what they say first only decide what to do next ler... But if I don't buy from official Nikon shop also can claim direct right?
*
yea go nikon center in timessquare and check with their unit.
and as long as ur warranty card states nikon malaysia on it.

iinw, the benefit of the md11 is u get the multi-directional thumb thing and it's made of magnesium. it costs almost RM500.

if i were you, I would get the third-party ones. i would also put in only one battery and the spare goes into my pocket. lighter weight and just use it for better grip especially portrait orientation.
*
3rd party batt grips for D7000 is out?

QUOTE(aldosoesilo @ Jan 13 2011, 12:14 PM)
when I ask a friend of mine the exact same question.
he said because he is a sport photographer where every moment is necessary so he just burst it.  tongue.gif

guys. I wonder why lens with bigger aperture consider as fast lens.
e.g 50mm 1.4 <- Nikon called it fast prime.
does a bigger aperture has any effect on focusing speed??
*
i guess it depends on the burst.
what if the moment is in-between the frames u shot? can happen even if u shoot 10fps.
whereas some good pro sports guys just rely on their anticipation and timing with single shots to get it.

the dial to CL and CH is to set the fps, not really help wor..have i miss any pre-set setting?
as so far, those burst mode i tried, must be set in the 'interval time shooting' and trigger by selecting 'start' there, nt by pressing shutter button.

...and that is why manuals were invented...go read pg 77 tongue.gif
